11. Employees/students are responsible for constantly monitoring postings and<br />
comments to social media sites, and for deleting postings that do not adhere<br />
to our policies.<br />
12. Faculty/staff/students identifying themselves as a member of NRMS, they are<br />
in no way communicating on the behalf of the school district. Any<br />
communications are representative of their individual personal views and<br />
opinions, not that of NRMS.<br />
All staff and students must adhere to Digital Citizenship which is the norms of<br />
appropriate, responsible behavior with regard to all technology use.<br />
1. Digital communication. Our school system promotes appropriate<br />
communication between students, faculty, and administrators.<br />
2. Digital literacy. <strong>Student</strong>s can learn to navigate online communication and use<br />
them to enhance their academic experiences.<br />
3. Digital etiquette. NRMS is a highly accountable system that we monitor to<br />
ensure that the student’s behavior is appropriate. If online misconduct, such<br />
as cyber bullying, occurs, the school will take a quick and redemptive approach<br />
to discipline, promoting responsible online activity.<br />
4. Digital rights and responsibilities. By extending the privilege to students to<br />
access and participate in social networking, our system can directly teach<br />
students about rights and responsibilities they have as digital citizens.<br />
5. Digital health and wellness. With time stamps, teachers and administrators<br />
can monitor student posts as well as the frequency and scope.<br />
6. Digital security. Due to the highly monitored and accountable nature of our<br />
social network, teachers and administrators have an ongoing responsibility to<br />
ensure that students are not posting material that will leave them vulnerable to<br />
online attacks.<br />
VIOLATION OF THIS POLICY WILL LEAD TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION AND POSSIBLE<br />
TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT FOR THE EMPLOYEE AND SUSPENSION OR<br />
EXPULSION FOR THE STUDENT.<br />
AGREEMENT<br />
I accept the conditions as outlined in this agreement for provision of using any social<br />
networking/media made available/accessible by <strong>Nash</strong>-<strong>Rocky</strong> <strong>Mount</strong> <strong>Schools</strong>.<br />
