Telephone services can be arranged by visiting a local T-punkt shop (telephone shop)
on the high Street in your city.
Another option would be to visit your local German Post Office on JHQ who also
deal with DT phoneline and Broadband packages with several years of experience
supporting the Military, providing excellent rates and best packages for individual
needs, The German Post Office also carry on the service by providing a Support
Network for the Community with any problems that should arise with DT during your
time in BFG.
A UK or neighbouring country telephone is not compatible for use within the
telephone sockets in Germany.
How to Obtain your Phone
You may buy a telephone at most domestic electrical shops and big supermarkets,
( Real, Media-Markt or Saturn) which stock a large range of, approved telephone
equipment including answering machines and facsimile machines. They usually
include a guarantee period of 2 years and may be purchased using tax-free
concessions.
The T-punkt shops also offer a big range of phones by DT
note: It is against the law to use telecommunications equipment in Germany without
complying with the applicable licensing requirements and stiff financial penalties can
be applied together with the confiscation of the offending equipment for infringement
of this regulation.

Telephones and Satellite
All the accommodation in JHQ has cable TV outlets installed by a local contractor
offering BFBS television, AFN, and a wide range of English, German and Dutch

The German Post Office is situated to the left of the Encounters Community Centre,
opposite the English Post Office and the RSU Welfare Centre. The German Post Office
supplies a service to the Rhine Garrison area including Elmpt and Ayrshire, it is run
self employed by an Army Wife, it is also available for all civilians within the local
area of MG
