NFA is champ!
NFA Region IX actively
participated in the celebration of the 114 th
Anniversary of the Department of
Agriculture (DA) last June 25. This year’s
theme was- “Sa Matuwid na Daan Pagkain
ay Sapat, Kabuhayan ay Angat.”
Sports activities were part of the
anniversary highlights to promote
camaraderie and sportsmanship among
employees. NFA employees participated in
said sports events together with the
different line agencies under the DA. They
were divided into four groups/colors such
as: DA - green (composed of DA, FIDA,
NSQCS, RAFC, PhilMench and
NABCOR); NIA – red (composed of NIA,
PCA and PCA-ZRC); BFAR – blue
(composed of BFAR, RFTC, and PFDA);
NFA – yellow (composed of NFA, BAS,
NMIS, ATI, PCC, PCIC, BAI, BSWM and
Quedancor).
The sports activities which were
done simultaneously on June 21, 2012. On
the day of the anniversary (June 25), the
celebration kicked-off with a motorcade
followed by ribbon cutting ceremony to
signal the “Tiangue, Tiangue na DA”

(Market, Market in the DA), an Agri-Trade
Fair, spearheaded by the DA through the
Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance
Division at the DA-Quadrangle, DA
Satellite Office, Zamboanga City.
During the Agri-trade fair, the DA
provided exhibitors a tent and two plastic
chairs to be used in their booths. The agritrade
fair aimed to showcase priority
programs as well as to promote and sell
agri-fishery products.
During the culminating program,
the NFA was awarded the over-all
champion for winning in various sports
categories.
Indeed, DA anniversary was
memorable especially for the NFA family -

NFA commemorates the
151 st birth anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal
June 19 marks the lives of the
Filipinos, because a Hero was born.
The City of Zamboanga
spearheaded the observance of the 151 st
Birth Anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal by
holding a commemorative program and
wreath-laying ceremony at the Rizal park
of the city, participated in by the NFA
family and other line agencies from private
sectors and government sectors.
Region 10
Bukidnon sponsors
convocation
Every first Monday of the month,
a convocation participated in by local and
national government agencies is held by the
provincial government of Malaybalay
Bukidnon, through the office of the
provincial capitol, headed by Governor
Alex Calingasan. The agencies took turns
in hosting/sponsoring the said activity. Last
July 2, the National Food Authority
Bukidnon was one of the sponsors together
with the Provincial Agriculture Office,
Philippine Red Cross, Provincial Veterinary
Office, and Provincial Welfare and
Development Office.
The convocation was held at the
Kaamulan open theater, provincial capitol,
Malaybalay City. This gathering provides a
GOOD venue for each agency to update
the people and keep them abreast with the
programs they are implementing for the
welfare of the people of Bukidnon.

R. Duray apprised the people of the
agency’s accomplishments for the period
January to June 2012. Support to farmers
was the priority of the agency by making
available post-harvest facilities that they

Irrigated Rice Production Enhancement
Program (IRPEP), NFA Bukidnon set up
farmer’s kiosks in three strategically located
areas: NFA Aglayan compound, NFA
Valencia compound and NFA Maramag
compound. Each kiosk is complete with
internet access where the farmers could
search for marketing linkages to suppliers
of fertilizers, seeds and buyers of their
produce. Internet access likewise provides
the farmers comparative grains prices
outside of Bukidnon thus, giving them
wider spectrum on where and when to sell
their produce to their best advantage.
Manager Duray also informed
that NFA Bukidnon has been actively
coordinating with the local government
units (LGUs), municipal agricultural
officers (MAOs) and farmer organizations
(FOs) in the conduct of farmers’ ugnayan
to promote NFA’s palay procurement
scheme: a) the simplified requirements for
the issuance of farmer’s passbooks; b) the
cereal procurement fund allocation system
as introduced by Director Gil Pepito B.
Paqueo which aims for equitability and
transparency, programmability of deliveries
and minimization of “first come, first
served” basis; c) the augmentation of the
first delivery from 100 bags to 200 bags

Zamboangaños, spearheaded by the city
government of Zamboanga, were joined by
NFA employees with the different line
agencies of the government, in celebrating
the ‘victory’ of the Filipinos against the
Spaniards.
