Architectural vision, clinical expertise, and talented construction teams created two towers that will enhance patient care for generations to come KMD’s architectural rendering of The Hofmann Family Patient Care Tower at John Muir Medical Center – Concord 2 To meet the needs of an ever-expanding population and to meet the new California seismic requirements, John Muir Health embarked on two significant building projects in Concord and Walnut Creek. The building projects had two goals. The first was to create flexible, dynamic hospital environments that would be adaptable to future medical and technical innovations. The second was to meet pent-up demand for inpatient beds and clinical services. Patient privacy and the creation of healing environments were important elements in the architectural design. In 2004 the design and development phases of the projects were initiated and in 2008 after all plans were approved by the respective cities, construction began. We appreciate the many donors who supported the building projects during this critical time. Thank you for joining John Muir Health in improving the health of our community. Topping out was celebrated at both facilities when the final steel beam was placed atop the structure. Plans for interior finishes and furniture incorporated colors and natural elements found in Contra Costa County. The big digs started in early 2008
