The Patient Care Tower houses both the Cardiovascular
Institute of John Muir Health and an expanded emergency
department. The John Muir Health Cardiovascular Institute
(CVI) consolidates complex cardiac procedures and clinical
services in a new state-of-the-art facility in Concord. The
expanded emergency department meets the urgent need for
more capacity.
The new building includes:
• Five large cardiac cath labs and 12 pre-operative/recovery
bays on the garden level
• 12 cardiovascular ICU private rooms
• 39 telemetry private rooms
• A well-balanced integration of natural light, color, texture
and varied ceiling heights and a reception area open to a
serene garden and water feature.
• The expanded emergency department triples the square
footage of the former emergency department and
includes imaging technology within the department.
• The patient care tower also includes room for expansion
to replace facilities as they become obsolete and to
accommodate growth of programs, new program
initiatives and changes in delivery of care.
