And in comparis<strong>on</strong> to other sciences alLthe signs of preference<br />

are found in this<br />

science.<br />

With regard to the " object " and the u known ".It is<br />

apparent that the object and the aim of this science is<br />

Truth, And it is<br />

impossible to compare other existant<br />

things with His grandeur.<br />

With regard to ascertainment of argument and corroborati<strong>on</strong><br />

ofproof*. It is established that observati<strong>on</strong> is str<strong>on</strong>ger than<br />

argumentati<strong>on</strong>. The Masters of the art of Kal&m c<strong>on</strong>sider it<br />

lawful that God the Almighty should give man the necessary<br />

knowledge about Ilis existence, qualities and so <strong>on</strong>.<br />

Since it is<br />

lawful, the acquisiti<strong>on</strong> of some knowledge of this<br />

sort is<br />

undoubtedly superior to that which necessitates<br />

bearing the troubles of observati<strong>on</strong>, labours of reas<strong>on</strong>ing, and<br />

falling into the places of doubts and abodes of suspici<strong>on</strong>.<br />

One of the Sufis was asked, "What is the proof of the<br />

existence of the Creator?" He u replied: For me it is the<br />

morning instead of the lamp/' Also another <strong>on</strong>e of them<br />

u The semblance of <strong>on</strong>e who seeks after the Truth<br />

says:<br />

through arguments is like <strong>on</strong>e searching after the sun with<br />

a lamp. "<br />

Since the masters of the principles have accepted and<br />

agreed that in the next world Clod the Almighty<br />

will create<br />

in men a percepti<strong>on</strong> in the sense of visi<strong>on</strong>, to see Grod without<br />

mediati<strong>on</strong> ; argument, proof, and adm<strong>on</strong>iti<strong>on</strong> are no<br />

c<strong>on</strong>siderati<strong>on</strong>s with the People of Truth. So according to<br />

these principles<br />

it befits [Him] to create in his [man's] heart<br />

percepti<strong>on</strong>s of this kind in order to see Him in this world<br />

without any mediati<strong>on</strong> and proof. And it is therefore that<br />
