When <strong>on</strong>e forgets himself and<br />
also forgets the forgetfulness<br />
it is called "fana darfana".<br />
And as l<strong>on</strong>g as they- delight in ma'rifa they are at a<br />
loss. This is reck<strong>on</strong>ed am<strong>on</strong>gst latent polytheism. On the<br />
other hand, he reaches perfecti<strong>on</strong> when he loses knowledge *<br />
in the "known", because, whoever delights in "knowledge"<br />
likewise as in the "known" has made that 2 his object. He<br />
is "al<strong>on</strong>e" when in the "Known'' he gives up the thought of<br />
"knowledge." When the knowledge of humanity also<br />
disappears it is the state of Obliterati<strong>on</strong>, and is the stage<br />
of "Every<strong>on</strong>e that is in it, will pass away and there remaineth<br />
but the face of Thy Lord, the Glorious and Beneficient"8<br />
One of the Seekers says that "There is no God but<br />
God" is the unificati<strong>on</strong> of the comm<strong>on</strong>-folk, and "There is<br />
no He but Him" is the unificati<strong>on</strong> of the higher class. He<br />
has erred in the classificati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
There are five grades<br />
God but God" and this is the unificati<strong>on</strong> of the comm<strong>on</strong>folk<br />
who negative Deity4 from what is not God. These<br />
people are the comm<strong>on</strong>est of the comm<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Bey<strong>on</strong>d this sect there is another group, nobler in comparis<strong>on</strong><br />
to these and comm<strong>on</strong>er in comparis<strong>on</strong> to another sect.<br />
Their unificati<strong>on</strong> is "There is no He but Him". This [group]<br />
is higher than the first <strong>on</strong>e. And their place is higher,<br />
because the first<br />
group <strong>on</strong>ly negative divinity<br />
