The following scoring system will be used to determine the successful music applicants.
1. Performance of chosen piece
This will be judged and scored by considering both the difficulty of the music performed and the
quality of the performance.

Each applicant will be awarded a total mark for the audition and places will be awarded to the top three
scoring pupils.
If at any stage, a tie-breaker is required places will be allocated to the child(ren) living closer(est) to the
school as indicated by a straight line from the main school entrance to the child’s home, as calculated
using Peterborough City Council’s GIS process.
Parents who are considering applying for a place for a child born after 31 August 2001 must discuss the
situation with the headteacher of The King’s School before submitting the application.
If the school has more applications than places available parents may elect to place their child’s name on
a waiting list. Pupils will be placed on the waiting list in strict order according to the oversubscription
criteria on the admissions policy. If a place becomes available at the school, places will be allocated
according to these criteria.
The waiting list will be held from the allocation of places date, until the end of Year 10. Parents will be
asked to contact the school using the form provided to request that their child’s name is placed on the
waiting list.
Please note that children who are the subject of a direction by the local authority to admit or who are
allocated a place in accordance with a fair access protocol will take preference over those on the waiting
list.
