Two Thous<strong>and</strong> in Prize Money Distributed Among Colorado’s Men.<br />
In the presence of Admiral Thomas B. Howard, Captain Ashley H.<br />
Robertson, Comm<strong>and</strong>er F. N. Freeman <strong>and</strong> other officers of the armored<br />
cruiser Colorado, the sum of $2,000 was distributed August 1st to the gun<br />
crews of the main <strong>and</strong> secondary batteries for proficiency in gunnery at<br />
target practice off San Diego last May. The winning crews were called aft<br />
<strong>and</strong> the prize money distributed by the ship’s paymaster, the ceremony taking<br />
place on the quarterdeck in full view of the assembled officers <strong>and</strong> men.
