NAVAL RESERVE CADETS<br />
IJ you are between the ages <strong>of</strong> 13 <strong>and</strong> 18 years:<br />
The Naval Reserve Cadets provide for the spiritual social <strong>and</strong> edu .itional welfare <strong>of</strong><br />
boys <strong>and</strong> girls <strong>and</strong> help to develop in them character, a sense <strong>of</strong> patriotism, self reliance,<br />
citizenship <strong>and</strong> discipline<br />
Uniforms are supplied free <strong>of</strong> charge<br />
Cadets are required to produce a certificate from their doctor to confirm they are<br />
capable <strong>of</strong> carrying out the normal duties <strong>and</strong> activities <strong>of</strong> the Cadet Corps If injured while<br />
on duty Cadets are considered for payment <strong>of</strong> compensation<br />
Parades are held on Saturday afternoon <strong>and</strong> certain Units hold an additional parade<br />
one night a week<br />
The interesting syllabus <strong>of</strong> training covers a wide sphere <strong>and</strong> includes seamanship,<br />
h<strong>and</strong>ling <strong>of</strong> boats under sail <strong>and</strong> power navigation, physical training, rifle shooting.<br />
signalling splicing <strong>of</strong> wire <strong>and</strong> ropes, general sporting activities <strong>and</strong> other varied subjects<br />
Instructional camps are arranged for Cadets <strong>and</strong> they are also given opportunities,<br />
whenever possible '
