he Ro> al <strong>Australia</strong>n <strong>Navy</strong> has <strong>of</strong>ficial!)<br />
"rccommissioned" the famous mast <strong>of</strong><br />
the first HMAS SYDNEY.on Bradleys<br />
Head at Mosman. The mast had just completed<br />
a major restoration, as pan <strong>of</strong> an appeal to<br />
restore the "fighting top" <strong>of</strong> the First World<br />
War light cruiser. More than SI00.000 was<br />
raised by the <strong>Navy</strong> to ensure the mast would<br />
st<strong>and</strong> on the shores <strong>of</strong> Sydney Harbour well<br />
into the next century. First erected on the<br />
headl<strong>and</strong> in 1934 by the Mayor <strong>of</strong> Mosman the<br />
mast was last refurbished during the 1960s.<br />
The 1992 restoration ensures the visual<br />
significance <strong>of</strong> the site will not be lost to the<br />

occasion a brief ceremony was held from 10.45<br />
