Cyclone Sidr Recovery Activities<br />

• Principles of Emergency <strong>Health</strong> Care training at all levels are ongoing for establishing<br />

Emergency Medical Services. 4 TOT training 'Principles on emergency health care in<br />

EPR' for Master Trainers on EMS system and subsequent implementation training on<br />

EPR in Barisal and Khulna divisions was held and at remaining district & UZ levels will<br />

held shortly.<br />

• Video clips, manuals, booklets, placards & posters will be prepared for mass awareness<br />

on the three basic principles of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). These IEC<br />

materials will be made available in the TV channels, Radios, Cinema houses as trailers,<br />

in all levels.<br />

• Procurement of Emergency Medical equipment and drugs is on process for replenishing<br />

buffer stock to reduce avoidable morbidity, mortality and disability due to disaster.<br />

• More training on psychosocial support has been scheduled and preparation of basic<br />

messages for psychosocial support related IEC materials like pictorial poster, leaflet,<br />

audio cassette/CD and training manual in English and Bengali version is underway.<br />

• Conduct training on caregivers on grief counseling, thus psychosocial support will<br />

provide for traumatizes people through counseling and proper referral system in Sidr<br />

affected areas.<br />

• A hand book for identifying the vulnerable areas by category and to assess<br />

environmental impact on human health will be prepared for the <strong>Health</strong> Managers and<br />

health workers of other government, NGO and INGOs for preparedness plan and<br />

efficient resource management.<br />
