Parthibendra Malla: After the death of Nripendra Malla his<br />
brother Parthibendra Malla ascended the throne of<br />
Kantipur.<br />
Like his father he was also a man of literary taste. He used to<br />
compose poems in Sanskrit. He thought himself to be one of<br />
the best poets in Sanskrit. He had his poems engraved in vari<br />
ous inscriptions. Fearing that Mahipatendra Malla might be a<br />
source of trouble, Parthibendra Malla imprisoned him in 1742<br />
B. E. (1685 A.D.). Parthibendra Malla extended his suzerainty<br />
,as<br />
far as Sindhuli Gadhi. He died in 1745 B. E.' (1688 A. D.).<br />
He was believed to have been poisoned by his<br />
.<br />
chief minister<br />
Chikuti. He was dragged out of his hiding place at Devapatan<br />
and was killed.<br />
Bhupalendra Malla: After the death of Parthibendra<br />
Malla, his son Bhupalendra Malla became king. During his<br />
reign his chief minister Laxmi Narayan bacame all in all. Some<br />
two months after the death of Parthibendra Malla, Laxmi<br />
Narayan was successful in causing the death of Mahipatendra<br />
Malla who was found hiding in the house of Raghawananda of<br />
Devapatan, a priest of Pashupati Nath and who Laxmi Narayan<br />
considered a source of danger to his growing power. At first he<br />
sided with Lalitpur and invaded Bhaktapur. Later on, Lalitpur<br />
entered into an alliance with Bhaktapur and Kantipur and La<br />
litpur fought between themselves. In 1746 B.E. (1689 A.D.) Riddhi<br />
Laxmi Levi, mother of. Bhupalendra, erected the high tem<br />
ple of Shiva in front of Gaddi Baithak. The big Garuda in Kath<br />
mandu was also set up by Bhupalendra. Durin ghis pilgrimage<br />
he died at Brahmanav in Ayodhya in 1757 B.E. (1700 A.D.).<br />
Bhaskar Malla: When Bhupalendra Malla died, his son<br />
Bhaskar Malla was just<br />
a child. So his mother Bhuban Laxmi<br />
as the regent of. her son carried on the administration of the<br />
country. Bhuban Laxmi, being religious-minded, had done many<br />
