his 3rd career 300-yard game in the 31-0
win over West Virginia Tech on Oct. 3,
2009. Playing in just the first 3 quarters, he
completed 23-of-34 passes for 328 yards
and 2 TDs. He also ran for a career-high 46
yards and 1 TD on 10 carries.

Reid Moving Up All-Time Wins List
With the 21-6 win at Pikeville (Ky.)
on Oct. 17, 2009, head coach Tommy
Reid moved into second place on the alltime
wins list in program history. His 35
victories move him past Matt Ballard.
J.R. Bacon tops the list with 46 career
victories as he coached the Bulldogs from
1929-41 and posted a 46-33-12 record.
Ballard coached from 1988-93 and went
34-25-1 during his tenure.
Reid, who took over during the 2001
campaign, is 35-57 overall.

The Bulldog offense picked up right
where it’s been the past 2 seasons with a
36-point outburst in the season-opening
loss to Campbellsville (Ky.) on Setp. 4,
2010.
The past 2 years saw Union post the
top and the 5th-best scoring seasons in
program history. In addition, the 2007
campaign saw the Bulldogs post the 7thmost
points in school history.
Union averaged 30.8 points in 2008
and 30.1 in 2009. The top point-per-game
average in program history came during
the 1994 season when the Bulldogs
averaged 33.4 points in tallying 334 points
in 10 games.

Red-Zone Issues?
What seemed like a given for Union in
2008 was a sticking point for the Bulldogs
in 2009. Since the season-opening game,
Union has struggled capitalizing on its redzone
chances.
In 2010, Union went 4-of-6 in the
red-zone in the season-opener, scoring 3
touchdowns and a field gold for a total of
22 points.
In 2009, the Bulldogs took care of
business every time they got in the red
zone in the 57-7 season-opening win on
Sept 5, 2009. Union went 5-for-5, scoring
TDs each time. But after that, it was not
until the final two games of the year that

21 Is Generally The Limit
When determining whether Union will
be victorious or not, 21 has been the magic
number. Under head coach Tommy Reid,
Union is 21-6 when holding an opponent
to 21 or fewer points. The last time Union
lost a game when limiting a team to 21
or fewer came on Sept. 24, 2009, when it
dropped a 21-15 decision at Georgetown
(Ky.). Prior to that, it had been since Nov.
11, 2006, when UVa-Wise posted a 21-6
win.
