From the time they were organized in
1947, the Navy precision drill team has
been outstanding for its performances in
town as well as on the campus. This year
the group effort proved rewarding, for
they won the Northwest Drill trophy.
Acting as Commanding Officer was
J. W. Clayborne, with W. L. Gladish as
Executive Officer.
Eagle and Anchor
Eagle and Anchor is a club for outstanding
midshipmen. Since it was organized
four years ago, its purpose has been to
encourage fellowship and to develop
leadership. Social functions sponsored
during the year were the annual informal
Shipwreck dance, Navy Ball and
the Captain's Tea. Officers were Harold
Cottrell, president, and Joe Tom.

Navy Rifle T earn
Composed mostly of sophomores, the
Navy Rifle Team has competed in numerous
matches. Unlike most rifle teams,
the group does not practice together,
but individually. Practicing individually
has enabled each member to correct his
mistakes more efficiently and rapidly.
