• Student Progress Review: A faculty committee reviews the department model of annual
progress review. Recommendations for change are made. The department works with the
College of Graduate Studies Enrollment Director and the Office of Technology Services in
preparing the structure and electronic coordination of databases related to student performance
on particular program competencies.
• Student Feedback: When situations arise that involve providing students with feedback about
their performance in the program (either related to, or separate from, the actual annual
progress review), the chair consults within the department and with the Dean of the College of
Graduate Studies, depending upon the situation, to develop a strategy for addressing matters
in a timely and sensitive way.
• Strategic Planning: Each year, the department develops a strategic plan. Faculty members
share responsibility for writing the plan.
• Syllabi Management: Review content of syllabi; make recommendations for change; address
matters of uniformity.
• Training Committee for Immaculata’s Predoctoral Internship Consortium: Committee
members review policy and procedures, discuss intern progress, review applications for site
affiliation with the internship, discuss and review due process issues.
Calendar: The Graduate Psychology Department faculty operates on a departmental calendar that
permits timely, scheduled attention to all aspects of the Psy.D. program in Clinical Psychology.
Faculty meet at regular intervals throughout the academic year to address programmatic issues,
including:
Program Agenda
The Department places on its agenda for full review all items related to the Psy.D. program's
educational objectives that have been identified by either students, administration, or faculty.
Students are invited to submit agenda items to the Department Chair in writing for
consideration at a faculty meeting. The Department forms task forces as needed to address
program issues (e.g., syllabi review, comprehensive examination format, rating Psy.D.
applicants, etc.). Additionally, the Chair of the Graduate Psychology Department is a member
of the Graduate Academic Policy Committee along with other Department Chairs in the
College of Graduate Studies. Graduate Academic Policy meets at regular intervals during the
academic year to address institutional issues related to specific graduate programs and the
various educational objectives of the entire College of Graduate Studies. All other full-time
department faculty members are appointed by the University president to serve on universitywide
committees.
Periodic Review of Student Progress
The College of Graduate Studies Student Handbook charges faculty with the responsibility of
monitoring the fit between the student's interpersonal presentation with the responsibilities of
the faculty and institution to train doctoral students for public service. A procedure for
grievance hearings is also outlined in the College of Graduate Studies Student Handbook.
