Life-Nurturing Regimen<br />

As revealed by a centenarian, 101 years old<br />

If someone can live <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> ripe old age of 101 years<br />

without any major health problems, still retain his<br />

natural teeth and <strong>the</strong> ability <strong>to</strong> read newspapers<br />

without gl<strong>as</strong>ses; he must have kept a good health<br />

regimen. With this in mind, Mr. Kai-chen Tsui ( 崔 介<br />

忱 ), w<strong>as</strong> interviewed by Taipei United Daily News<br />

reporters who hoped <strong>to</strong>o learn his secret of longevity.<br />

Mr. Tsui w<strong>as</strong> born on January 12, 1910. He lives with<br />

his 96-year-old wife and a granddaughter who is over<br />

40. When he w<strong>as</strong> 66, he retire from his job at <strong>the</strong><br />

Personnel Department, Police Bureau of Taiwan.<br />

Mr. Tsiu is free of ailments. He demonstrates his good<br />

health and flexibility by doing an acrobatic exercise of<br />

spreading his legs wide, at an 180 degree angle,<br />

bending forward from his waist, and <strong>to</strong>uching <strong>the</strong><br />

ground with his forehead, and <strong>the</strong>n wrapping his legs<br />

around his neck, showing that <strong>the</strong> flexibility of his<br />

body is like that of a young child. Mr. Tsui also h<strong>as</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> stamina <strong>to</strong> do 108 pushups in a row. (cont. on next<br />

飯 勿 吃 太 飽 , 覺 要 睡 得 好 , 運 動 每 天 做 , 營 養 不 可 少 ,<br />

盡 量 找 快 樂 , 切 莫 尋 煩 惱 , 赤 子 心 常 在 , 百 年 也 不 老 ,<br />

不 作 虧 心 事 , 人 格 比 天 高 , 為 人 不 貪 墨 , 子 孫 也 逍 遙 。<br />

Do not overfeed yourself at meals; sleep well; exercise daily;<br />

be never in want of adequate nutrition;<br />

always try <strong>to</strong> be happy; keep yourself free from worries and troubles;<br />

and always retain a good sense of conscience; <strong>the</strong>n you may live in youth<br />

and health even when you have reached <strong>the</strong> age of 101 years.<br />
