ESOL Advice and Guidance
All applicants for ESOL courses have an individual interview
and language test to assess their level and decide the best course
for them. Advice and Guidance is held at both Wornington and
Hortensia Centres.

ESOL GENERAL LANGUAGE COURSES
You can do general English language courses from Entry 1 to Level 2 and
gain a nationally recognised ESOL Skills for Life qualification. You will
develop your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. All courses
include tutorials so that students have the opportunity to work out an
individual learning plan with their tutor. There are also opportunities to
work in the computer suite and integrate ICT skills with language work.
ESOL Level 1 – Higher Intermediate
ESOL Level 2 – Advanced
Students who have a particular need to develop
reading and writing skills in English will be referred
to an ESOL Literacy class at the appropriate level.
Classes are offered at:
ESOL Entry Level 1A – Beginners
ESOL Entry Level 1B – Post-beginner
ESOL Entry Level 2 – Elementary
ESOL Entry Level 3 – Intermediate
For students receiving Benefits, ESOL courses are free (See page 90 for details).
There may be opportunities to study ESOL alongside
some vocational subjects such as Childcare. If you
