The Entry Level courses are for complete beginners, those with very little knowledge
of computers, and are titled Beginners and Beginners/Improvers. They study for the
Open College North West range of exams. The next stage (Intermediate) comprises
the Certificates for IT Users (CLAIT) at Levels 1 and 2. This enables students to use the
computer and a range of applications with greater confidence and ability. The final
stage is the European Computer Driving Licence which means students will leave the
course proficient in the Internet and Email, Word Processing, Database, Spreadsheets
and Presentation Graphics. Each course lasts one term.
ict skills for life
Fast track students can progress through the Levels in one year, others can take their
time as appropriate. Students are required to attend Advice and Guidance sessions, please
fill out an application form, return it to one of our centres and you will be invited to
an advice and guidance session.
