The Entry Level courses are for complete beginners, those with very little knowledge<br />

of computers, <strong>and</strong> are titled Beginners <strong>and</strong> Beginners/Improvers. They study for the<br />

Open <strong>College</strong> North West range of exams. The next stage (Intermediate) comprises<br />

the Certificates for IT Users (CLAIT) at Levels 1 <strong>and</strong> 2. This enables students to use the<br />

computer <strong>and</strong> a range of applications with greater confidence <strong>and</strong> ability. The final<br />

stage is the European Computer Driving Licence which means students will leave the<br />

course proficient in the Internet <strong>and</strong> Email, Word Processing, Database, Spreadsheets<br />

<strong>and</strong> Presentation Graphics. Each course lasts one term.<br />

Fast track students can progress through the Levels in one year, others can take their<br />

time as appropriate. Students are required to attend Advice <strong>and</strong> Guidance sessions, please<br />

fill out an application form, return it to one of our centres <strong>and</strong> you will be invited to<br />

an advice <strong>and</strong> guidance session.<br />
