The Yorkshire Dales & Emmerdale<br />
York Minster<br />
This year we are delighted to be returning to Harrogate and the wonderful Yorkshire<br />
Dales. Our 5 day tour will see us enjoy a drive through the beautiful rolling countryside<br />
that are the Dales, take a cruise on the River Ouse in the Viking City of York and call into<br />
the famous “Woolpack Pub” when we visit Esholt, better known to us as Emmerdale.<br />
Mon 30th: Letterkenny - Belfast - Cairnryan – Harrogate<br />
From Cairnryan we take a scenic journey along the Scottish borders and then over<br />
the Pennines to the award winning floral town of Harrogate and the centrally located<br />
Holiday Inn Hotel, our home for the next four nights.<br />
Tue 31st: A Day in the Dales – Pateley Bridge - Ripon<br />
Today we are treated to views of beautiful rolling dales as we take a leisurely drive<br />
through the Yorkshire countryside. We visit the quaint village of Pateley Bridge, home<br />
of Britain’s oldest sweet shop, before stopping in the market town of Ripon, also known<br />
as the “Cathedral City of the Dales”.<br />
Wed 1st: York – Boat Cruise on River Ouse<br />
The beautiful medieval city of York has 2000 years of history in one compact city. We<br />
start with a relaxing tour of the city as we enjoy a boat cruise on the river Ouse. We will<br />
have plenty of time to enjoy this viking city, whether it’s a visit the gothic cathedral,<br />
York Minster, admire the city’s olde-style buildings, or indulge in a spot of shopping.<br />
Thur 2nd: Esholt (Emmerdale) - Free Time in Harrogate<br />
Today we visit the nearby village of Esholt, used for the exterior filming of “Emmerdale”.<br />
The village is no longer used for filming as the crew have now moved to a purpose built<br />
set, but the village is still popular with fans wanting to see the pub formally used as<br />
the Woolpack, and other buildings associated with the series. Today we also enjoy<br />
some free time in Harrogate. Why not treat yourself to one of the famous Turkish Baths,<br />
relax in the Valley Gardens, visit the Victoria Shopping Centre, or enjoy a cuppa in the<br />
famous Betty’s Tea Room?<br />
Fri 3rd: Harrogate - Cairnryan - Belfast - Letterkenny<br />
We travel back to Gretna Green and across to Stranraer to get the ferry back to Belfast.<br />
We arrive back in Letterkenny at approx. 8.00pm with fond memories, new friends and<br />
stories to tell.<br />
