Computer Software
Collaboration Tool Enables All Company
Personnel to View NC Programme Simulations
CGTech, the developer of Vericut CNC machine simulation,
verification and optimization software, has introduced the
Vericut Reviewer collaboration tool for communicating
with other people within an enterprise who operate outside
the NC programming department. By means of Vericut
Reviewer, shop-floor personnel and other production
engineers equipped with Windows-based personal computers
can view 3D animations of the CNC machining process
at their workstations.
For several years, Vericut featured a review mode in which
the NC programmer could play forward and backward while
removing and replacing material. Error messages and NC
programme text were highlighted whenever a collision on
the stock or fixture was selected. In addition, the user could
opt to show cutting conditions and a tool-path line display.
Now, however, a new Reviewer file can be saved and sent to
others at any point during a Vericut session.
The Vericut Reviewer application incorporates all the
functionality of NC Review mode in a stand-alone viewer
that does not require a license. The user can rotate, pan,
cross-section and zoom just as in full Vericut, and cut stock
features such as material thickness, hole diameter and
pitch. In addition, the user can measure air gaps via the
full range of X-Caliper tools.
