Magnetic Workholding System Provides
Faster Setup, Good Machining Accuracy
The new Power Matrix Modular
magnetic workholding system from
Eclipse Magnetics Ltd. is designed
for use in steel finishing and machining
processes, such as the production
of steel mould tools. The system
provides faster setup times and bet-
As the industrial trend toward automated
production advances, Erowa
AG continues to develop its wide
range of automatic loading systems
to help customers make their production
processes more economical. The
modular Robot Dynamic workpiecehandling
system is among them.
This system can be extended in all
directions at any time, from a simple
stand-alone facility with one magazine
to a linear robot on 20-m rails
serving as many as eight machines.
Featuring a combined x- and d-axis
(the latter is a swivelling axis), the
Robot Dynamic is placed next to the
machine and loads it virtually from
“around the corner.” An advantage to
this arrangement is that the machine
remains accessible from the front for
manual work. The system’s fast and
dynamic axial drives move to loading
or unloading positions with high
ter surface finishes
than manual clamping
methods can.
Being magnetic on
both sides, it both
secures the workpiece
and automatically
attaches to
metal workstations.
Power Matrix
Modular can be
adapted to the size
and shape of individual workpieces. It
consists of separate holding modules
that can be arranged in sequence as
the workpiece requires. Only as many
modules as are necessary to hold the
workpiece are employed. These units
are interconnected and are switched
on and off from a single control box.
They can be repositioned to accommodate
a variety of workpieces.
Operation is fast and simple: pushing
a button activates the magnet,
instantly clamping the workpiece. By
exerting a uniform clamp force across
the workpiece surface area, Power
Matrix Modular supports efforts to
optimize surface finish and machining
accuracy. Minimizing vibration
reduces bevelling on the product.
The modules can be secured to
nonmagnetic surfaces by means of
fixation through locating holes.
Modular Robotic Handling System Is
Able to Serve As Many As Eight Machines
accuracy. This highlevel
performance
means short cycle
times and a high
degree of productivity.
The workcell
control system
ensures correct process
sequences.
The Robot Dynamic
can transfer a load
weighing up to 250
kg along the x-axis
or up to 130 kg via
the combined x/daxis.
Top axis travel
is 2 m/sec. The system has one loading
station and can be equipped with
eight rack magazines and a maximum
of five rotary magazines; as many as
1,200 magazine positions are possible.
Various gripper systems cover
every application requirement.
A swivelling a-axis that allows for
servicing horizontal lathes and milling
centres also is available.
