<strong>Gide</strong> <strong>Loyrette</strong> <strong>Nouel</strong> announces new Asia partners<br />

<strong>Gide</strong> <strong>Loyrette</strong> <strong>Nouel</strong> (GLN) is pleased to announce the appointments of Guo Min as partner of the<br />

Beijing office and Gilles Cardonnel and Rebecca Finn as partners of the Hong Kong office. They join<br />

eight other lawyers appointed as local partners across the Firm's international network.<br />

These appointments are a further demonstration of the Firm's long-term commitment in Asia. They<br />

follow the arrival in 2010 of Antoine de la Gatinais, partner in charge of the Shanghai office, the 2011<br />

nomination to partnership of Thomas Urlacher and Zheng Yu in the Beijing office, that of Fan<br />

Jiannian in 2012 and the recent appointment of Paul-Emmanuel Benachi, both in Shanghai office.<br />

GLN is this year celebrating the twentieth anniversary of its establishment in China.<br />

Guo Min<br />

Tax - Projects (Finance & Infrastructure)<br />

Guo Min is the head of <strong>Gide</strong>’s China Tax Practice. She is a member of the Chinese Bar and the<br />

Institute of Certified Public Taxation Consultant of China. She joined <strong>Gide</strong>’s Beijing office in 2005,<br />

after working in the Tax Department of one of the “Big Four” accountancy firms as a tax consultant.<br />

She specialises in PRC taxation and accounting, presents regularly on tax issues to clients and the<br />

broader business community and has been heavily involved in tax working groups in China - she is the<br />

tax working group coordinator at the French Chamber of Commerce (CCIFC) in Beijing. Advising<br />

many companies on foreign investment in China, she has deep expertise in analysing and structuring<br />

the fiscal aspects of cross-border mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, joint ventures,<br />

project financings, company restructuring, foreign investment projects and tax related reforms and<br />

disputes. Guo Min also has specialist experience in customs law, foreign exchange control and<br />

corporate legal matters. She has worked on a wide range of notable PRC and international tax,<br />

accounting, customs and foreign exchange control matters for global clients. Guo Min is ranked as a<br />

leading tax lawyer in China by both Chambers Asia and the Asia Pacific Legal 500.<br />

Gilles Cardonnel<br />

Projects (Finance & Infrastructure) - M&A / Corporate<br />

Gilles is a member of the Paris Bar and admitted as solicitor in Hong Kong, New South Wales<br />

(Australia), and England and Wales. He regularly advises clients in relation to infrastructure projects<br />

in various sectors (transport, waste, water, energy, telecoms) throughout Asia and on corporate<br />

transactions under Hong Kong law (mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, restructuring). Gilles<br />

completed the last year of his honours degree at Boston University School of Law and holds a DESS in<br />

International Business Law from the University of Lyon III - Jean Moulin as well as an LL.M. from<br />

the University of Melbourne. Before joining <strong>Gide</strong>’s Hong Kong office in June 2008, Gilles was a<br />

member of the Project Finance department at <strong>Gide</strong>’s Paris office from 2002 to 2004, and later worked<br />

in the Energy, Resources and Infrastructure department of an Australian law firm in Sydney until 2007<br />

and in the Project Finance department of an American firm in Hong Kong.<br />

Rebecca Finn<br />

Banking & Finance<br />

As a member of <strong>Gide</strong>’s International Banking & Finance group, Rebecca Finn is an English qualified<br />

lawyer with over ten years of experience working in London and across Asia. Rebecca regularly<br />

advises clients on a wide range of cross-border finance transactions including mainstream bank<br />

lending, project development and financing, acquisition finance, Islamic finance and structured<br />

finance. Rebecca will be relocating from London to <strong>Gide</strong>’s Hong Kong office to capitalise on her<br />

experience in the region and bring further strength and capability to the English law finance practice in<br />

Asia. Her clients include conventional financial institutions as well as multilateral financing<br />

institutions, including the International Finance Corporation. She has also represented borrowers and<br />

sponsors on a number of significant transactions, including France Telecom in a large-scale financing<br />

in Africa in 2012. Most recently Rebecca was seconded to the International Islamic Liquidity<br />

Management Corporation where she assisted with the development and launch of its inaugural<br />

US$2bn short-term Sukūk Programme. Her work to date has involved transactions around the world in<br />

both developed and emerging economies, including Europe, North and sub-Saharan Africa, China,<br />

Mongolia, Myanmar and South East Asia. Rebecca practised at a leading magic circle firm before<br />

joining <strong>Gide</strong> in 2006.<br />
