Circular base in the form <strong>of</strong> an inverted echinus with carin<strong>at</strong>ed pr<strong>of</strong>ile; horizontal base support with rounded outer edge. Above, a hollow, cylindrical stand with an <strong>of</strong>fset <strong>at</strong> the juncture with the base; it is noticeably tapered towards the top and is pierced by <strong>at</strong> least two rows <strong>of</strong> narrow vertical openings, set close together. Impressed on the stand are two hori- zontal registers <strong>of</strong> double rows <strong>of</strong> scalene triangles, <strong>at</strong> least two <strong>of</strong> which are elimin<strong>at</strong>ed by vertical openings. Findspot: Southwest, Forum southwest <strong>of</strong> Build- ing 111.6 <strong>The</strong> fragments were found with m<strong>at</strong>erial d<strong>at</strong>ed to 600-550 B.C. (Lot 1978-49). 7. Bowl fragment P1. 63 C-1976-367. H. 0.155, W. 0.367, rest. D. 0.654, Th. 0.02. Impure, pale yellow clay (2.5Y 7/4) with pre- dominantly gray inclusions; fine slip <strong>of</strong> the same pale yellow color. From rim to bottom, about one half <strong>of</strong> the bowl is preserved in 10 joining frag- ments. Eroded, chipped surface. Overhanging rim, thickened and squared, with hori- zontal top and slightly inward slanting sides; slanted underside; rounded edges. Small ring in relief under the base support. Findspot: Forum Southwest; Well 1975-2,7 found with m<strong>at</strong>erial d<strong>at</strong>ed between the end <strong>of</strong> the 7th and beginning <strong>of</strong> the 6th century B.C. A small part <strong>of</strong> the original circumference is preserved. Extensively chipped lower edge; eroded surface. Overhanging, thickened rim with horizontal top and underside; vertical side modeled with four well- defined ridges, the uppermost <strong>of</strong> which is pointed. A very small part <strong>of</strong> the original circumference is preserved. Eroded and cracked surface with traces <strong>of</strong> burning. Overhanging, thickened rim with horizontal top and underside; the side <strong>of</strong> the rim is modeled with two groups <strong>of</strong> three and five ridges <strong>of</strong> varying height, sep- ar<strong>at</strong>ed by a central level band. Findspot: Well 1953-1 (T-U:2), area <strong>of</strong> Building III ("Tavern <strong>of</strong> Aphrodite"), a little to the north <strong>of</strong> the stylob<strong>at</strong>e <strong>of</strong> the South Stoa, in front <strong>of</strong> Shop XXVII.9 All the fill <strong>of</strong> the well is very likely coeval and d<strong>at</strong>ed 600-540 B.C. 10.
