22 | P a g e Building Procedures Guests/Visitors All Visitors and/or guests must register upon their arrival to Asbury Park High School by signing in at the Front Desk in the lobby. From there, you will be directed by Security to your destination or the requested person will be summoned to meet you. Parents are encouraged to make appointments with the desired person when planning school visits. Visitors must have proper identification and will be given a visitor’s pass for safety purposes. Emergency Evacuations/Simulations Asbury Park High School recognizes its responsibility to be prepared to confront circumstances in which the physical and/or mental well-being of pupils, staff and other individuals on school grounds is threatened or overtly impacted upon by an individual or group of individuals. As a preparatory measure, we engage in a series of simulated drills throughout the year. A fire drill is conducted once a month in addition to a Security drill. During the fire drill students are expected to move out of the school building quickly and quietly under their authority and supervision of their teachers. All visitors are required to exit the building during a Fire Drill. In the event of a Security Drill (Lock Down), visitors must display their Visitor Pass and enter the nearest room. Video Surveillance The Board authorizes the use of video cameras on district property to ensure the health, welfare and safety of all staff, students and visitors to district property, and to safeguard district facilities and equipment. Video cameras may be used in locations as deemed appropriate by the superintendent. Lost and Found Clothing, books, eyeglasses and other items found on the school grounds are taken to the first floor security, which is the school’s designated lost and found area. Internet User Agreement Policy The District Internet User Agreement Policy and Guidelines for Internet Use will be provided to the students through their homeroom teacher. The district has set specific definitions of acceptable use, privileges, and network etiquette. Once it is read the school asks that you return the signed form to your Child’s homeroom teacher. Parental/Guardian Media Consent Forms The district has designed a Parental/Guardian Media Consent Form that will be handed out during homeroom. It outlines various degrees of permission you grant the school to publish your child’s photo/image/video and all other personal identifiers. Once it is read the school asks that you return the signed form to your Child’s homeroom teacher.

The student will receive a letter grade for the class but will not be given credit for the course pending an attendance appeal. The outcome of the attendance appeal will determine if the student will be required to attend a summer session to earn credit for the course.
