Save the Children<br />
In <strong>2013</strong>, we worked with Save the Children to create the Staples ® Emergency<br />
Education Fund, which supports educational needs in times of crisis.<br />
Junior Achievement Canada<br />
Staples Advantage ® Canada supports business and diversity-related<br />
education programs for students ages 10–19. For the past four years, Staples<br />
Advantage Canada has received a community award from the Canadian<br />
Office Products Association for their partnership with Junior Achievement.<br />
Society for Protection of German Forests (SDW)<br />
As part of our EasyTree Kids program, Staples Germany supports SDW in educating<br />
children across the country on the importance of taking care of the environment. This<br />
helps create a direct link between our business operations and our community.<br />
Junior Achievement China<br />
Staples China supports career and education programs for students, engaging<br />
associates in teaching and leading career workshops in local schools.<br />
Beacon Foundation<br />
Staples Australia supports programming to help disadvantaged students achieve<br />
academic engagement, employment opportunities and personal success.<br />
Helping with disaster relief<br />
In <strong>2013</strong>, there were several disasters worldwide, and Staples was there to help:<br />
In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, Staples and associates contributed monetary and in-kind donations to the<br />
One Fund Boston to support victims and their families as well as local businesses affected. In-kind donations and gift cards<br />
were personally delivered by executives and other leaders to local Boylston Street businesses to help them reopen.<br />
In the aftermath of the West, Texas explosion, Staples donated in-kind product to a neighboring school district to set up<br />
new classrooms for displaced students. Staples associates held a supply drive and donated needed items to victims and their<br />
families.<br />
After the tornadoes devastated Moore, Oklahoma, Staples partnered with Save the Children to provide an impacted school<br />
with new computer lab equipment. Staples and customers also contributed monetary donations to the Tulsa Community<br />
Foundation and the American Red Cross to assist with local relief efforts.<br />
Following the Colorado floods, Staples customers and associates donated to Save the Children. Customers affected were<br />
sent coupons to help purchase necessary products to get businesses running again.<br />
In response to the Sichuan Ya’an earthquake, Staples China donated necessary supplies to help local families and schools<br />
through the Ya’an JiaCuo Fotuo Charity.<br />
When floods inundated Queensland, Australian associates raised over $25,000, which was matched by Staples, to support<br />
individuals and families affected.<br />
In response to Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, Staples and associates contributed monetary donations to Save the<br />
Children to support local relief efforts.<br />
