Parish tractor
The parish maintenance worker
attended the meeting in order to
report to councillors on the parish
tractor. This, he said, is too big to
meet the needs of the parish and
he advised on a smaller, more
suitable model. The maintenance
worker was asked to part-exchange
the parish’s tractor for a suitable
second-hand one.
Zebra crossings
Two requests from residents
were received for zebra crossings
outside Orchard Lodge and near to
51a Station Road. It was noted that
neither of these locations meets the
criteria for such crossings and has
no record of accidents. A letter will
be sent to the residents who made
the requests informing them of this
and suggesting that there are road
improvements with a higher priority
in the village.
Banners
Consent was given to two local
organisations – Tiptree Preschool
Playgroup and Kids Youth
Drama Society (KYDS) to display
banners on the railings at Grove
Lake, adjacent to Church Road,
on condition that the dimensions
of these do not exceed three by
two feet and are displayed for
one week prior to the events they
publicise.

Committee’s work
It was agreed that the committee
should continue to meet quarterly.
Councillors would be pleased to
hear from anyone who is prepared
to walk Tiptree’s footpaths (through
the countryside) and to report to
the parish clerk any problem(s)
which they encounter. A plan/map
of a number of circular walks of
varying distances was suggested.
Councillors Martyn Warnes and
John Calini offered to progress
ideas for this and to report back to
the next meeting.
Coffee Morning
The coffee morning organised
by Mrs Caroline Mason and her
daughter Joanna, which was held
in St Luke’s extension on Saturday
September 8, raised the huge
sum of £2,900, all of which will be
donated to Colchester COPES
(Cancer Support Group). Mrs
Mason and Joanna wish to thank all
who helped with or supported this
event in any way.
Windmill Green
It was noted that the surface is
becoming very uneven, to the point
where the machinery cannot cut the
grass properly. It was suggested
that topsoil ‘spoils’ from the playing
fi eld might be spread on the green
and the area reseeded.
