Tiptree Garden Club
& Horticultural Society Autumn Show
Once again the report of our show
starts in ‘spite of the weather’. It
was a very dry winter with hose
pipe bans in the spring and then
the rain came and the bans were
lifted. This was followed by damp
cold weather resulting in strange
and worrying growing conditions,
these are the challenges facing
gardeners in East Anglia.
Entries were up on last year .There
were some beautiful dahlias (one
child enquired were they real?), the
onions and leeks were magnificent
and the tomatoes added to the colour.
Trophies were awarded as follows:
The Hull Memorial Cup for most
points in the vegetable classes was
won by Joe Cook with 33 points.
