VISUAL ARTS<br />

PRINTMAKING<br />

Use water based inks, a variety of low-tech<br />

printmaking techniques, and a printing<br />

press to create numerous individual pieces<br />

and printed editions. Students will learn<br />

the basics of relief, transfer, and stencil<br />

printing as well as stamping and painting<br />

techniques.<br />

Ages 7–10: Saturdays, 10:30–Noon; $240<br />

INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING<br />

Learn to draw with a variety of tools such<br />

as pencil, charcoal, pastels and chalk to<br />

increase hand-eye coordination, while<br />

exploring new materials and approaches.<br />

Students will learn techniques of contour,<br />

shading and perspective to develop their<br />

own personal style.<br />

Ages 8–11: Saturdays, 3–4:30 pm; $295<br />

ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN<br />

Learn the basics of architectural styles,<br />

structures and materials while developing<br />

skills in problem solving and design.<br />

Class activities will include neighborhood<br />

walking tours, site sketching, drawing, and<br />

creating collages and three dimensional<br />

models.<br />

Ages 11–14: Saturdays, 3–4:30 pm; $240<br />

SATURDAY VISUAL ARTS ACADEMY<br />

An intensive program for adolescents,<br />

grades 5–9, who are committed to<br />

developing their drawing and painting<br />

skills and creating portfolios for special art<br />

high schools. Projects will include still life,<br />

figure drawing, portraits and landscapes<br />

along with abstract and imaginative work in<br />

charcoal, pencil, pastel, oil sticks, tempera<br />

and watercolor. Students are also introduced<br />

to the world of the fine arts and art careers<br />

through exposure to art history, visits to<br />

museums, galleries, art schools and artist’s<br />

and designer’s studios. It is recommended<br />

that students enroll for both fall and<br />

spring semesters.<br />

Ages 11–15: Saturdays, 10 am–2:30 pm; $300<br />

ADULTS<br />

ADULT CERAMICS<br />

Create sculpture and functional pieces<br />

through hand building and glazing<br />

techniques with master clay artist Noël<br />

Copeland. Individualized instruction, all<br />

levels welcome. Fee includes clay and<br />

materials. Firing fees are additional and<br />

based on pieces.<br />

Wednesdays, 6–8:30 pm: $395<br />

ADULT PAINTING & DRAWING<br />

Draw and paint with pencil, charcoal,<br />

watercolor, acrylic and oil to increase<br />

expertise and expression and explore<br />

new materials and techniques. Students<br />

identify their materials and interests<br />

and develop their own personal styles.<br />

All levels welcome. Students need to<br />

bring their materials.<br />

Tuesdays, 6:30–8:30 pm; $295<br />
