Whether it is protecting the environment or<br />
improving the health and safety <strong>of</strong> residents, <strong>UTEP</strong> is<br />
committed to using its <strong>research</strong> strengths to benefit<br />
the <strong>Paso</strong> del Norte region.<br />
But perhaps the most valuable result <strong>of</strong> our<br />
<strong>research</strong> can be seen in the scientists, engineers,<br />
health pr<strong>of</strong>essionals and others who earn their degrees<br />
and go on to teach, build and heal.<br />
<strong>UTEP</strong> is proud to be involved in a tremendous<br />
number <strong>of</strong> efforts designed to recruit and retain new<br />
<strong>research</strong>ers, particularly ethnic minorities and others<br />
who traditionally have been underrepresented in<br />
the fields <strong>of</strong> science, technology, engineering and<br />
