SCHOOL AGE SWIM LESSONS<br />

SWIMMER 1 - BEGINNER<br />

Just starting out with little or no swimming<br />

experience. Lessons will focus on floats and<br />

glides, flutter kick, shallow and deep-water<br />

comfort, movement through water, safe<br />

entries and PFDs.<br />

SWIMMER 1 - ADVANCED<br />

Prerequisites: Have attempted Swimmer 1<br />

before and/or are comfortable submerging<br />

their face with eyes open. Class will focus<br />

on unassisted glides and kicking drills.<br />

SWIMMER 2<br />

Prerequisites: Jump into chest deep water;<br />

open eyes and exhale under water; front/<br />

back float unassisted; flutter kick on front/<br />

back for 5m each.<br />

SWIMMER 2 & 3<br />

Prerequisites: Swimmer 2: Jump into chest<br />

deep water; open eyes and exhale under<br />

water; front/back float unassisted; kicking<br />

on front/back for 5m each. Swimmer 3:<br />

Jump into deep water; front/back swim<br />

10m each; front and back crawl 10m;<br />

tread water 15 seconds.<br />

SWIMMER 3<br />

Prerequisites: Jump into deep water;<br />

front/back swim 10m each; flutter kick<br />

on side; swim front and back crawl 10m<br />

continuously; tread water 15 seconds.<br />

SWIMMER 3 & 4<br />

Prerequisites: Swimmer 3: Jump into deep<br />

water; front/back swim 10m each; flutter<br />

kick on side; swim front and back crawl<br />

10m continuously; tread water 15 seconds.<br />

Swimmer 4: Dive and roll into deep water;<br />

front/back crawl 15m each; whip kick on<br />

back 10m; tread water 30 seconds.<br />

SWIMMER 4<br />

Prerequisites: Dive and roll into deep water;<br />

front/back crawl 15m each; 100m interval<br />

swim; whip kick on back 10m; tread water<br />

30 seconds.<br />

SWIMMER 5<br />

Prerequisites: Tread water 1 minute;<br />

front/back crawl 25m continuously;<br />

100m interval swim; breaststroke arms<br />

15m, whipkick on front 15m.<br />

SWIMMER 5 & 6<br />

Prerequisites: Swimmer 5: Tread<br />

water 1 minute; front/back crawl 25m<br />

continuously; 100m interval swim;<br />

breaststroke arms 15m, whip kick on front<br />

15m. Swimmer 6: Shallow dive; eggbeater<br />

kick 30 seconds; front/back crawl &<br />

breaststroke 50m each; 200m interval swim<br />

head up front crawl 10m.<br />

ROOKIE, RANGER, STAR<br />

PATROL (7/8/9)<br />

Rookie: Prerequisites: Compact jump; stride<br />

entry, eggbeater 75 seconds; head up front<br />

crawl or breaststroke 25m; front/back crawl<br />

& breaststroke 100m each; 300m endurance<br />

swim.<br />

Ranger: Prerequisites: Lifesaving kick 25m,<br />

endurance 350m; timed swim 100m in 3<br />

minutes.<br />

Star Patrol: Demands good physical<br />

conditioning and lifesaving judgment.<br />

Participants develop lifesaving and first aid<br />

skills; further refine front crawl, back crawl<br />

and breaststroke over 100m each, and<br />

complete 600m workouts and 300m timed<br />

swims.<br />

FITNESS SWIMMER<br />

10-14YRS<br />

For swimmers of all ages who are looking for<br />

a break from regular lessons or are looking to<br />

improve their endurance and overall physical<br />

fitness in the water. Class prerequisite:<br />

completed Swimmer 5, ages 10-14.<br />
