ARCTIC YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
This summer, thirty-six young people
from across the Arctic will run the remote
and rugged whitewater of the Horton
River—considered the “crown jewel”
of Canadian waterways—on a fourteen
day, 320 kilometre journey to the Arctic
Ocean, led by Outward Bound Canada.
The trips will focus on helping youth
build self-confidence by learning teamwork
and communication skills, technical
canoeing, camping and hiking skills,
and values of compassion, integrity and
responsibility. Arctic Youth Leadership
Expeditions are made possible through
the generous support of partners such
as: Norterra Group of Companies, The
ATCO Group, Chevron, Michael R.
Shaw Outdoor Leadership Foundation,
Inuvialuit Oilfield Services (Schlumberger),
and the Ministry of Municipal and
Community Affairs (MACA – GNWT).
