The general endowment supports the<br />

John Moors Cabot Fund<br />

Established in 1981 through a trust from<br />

John Moors Cabot ’19.<br />

Thomas D. Cabot Fund<br />

Established in 1985 through a gift from<br />

Thomas Cabot ’13, this fund supports<br />

secondary education particularly in the<br />

math and sciences.<br />

Rosalind E. Gorin General<br />

Established in 1985 by former and current<br />

trustee Rosalind E. Gorin ’62.<br />

Compensation Fund<br />

These funds were established by parents of<br />

the Class of 2001, 2003, and 2004 to support<br />

BB&N’s faculty compensation budget.<br />

Two BB&N eighth graders achieved perfect scores<br />

in the Mathematical Association of America’s<br />

junior high school examination. The 25-question,<br />

45-minute multiple choice examination applies the<br />

concepts taught at the junior high level to a wide<br />

range of problems.<br />

New funds established in 2006-2007.<br />

The BB&n endowment, which had a market value of $45 million as of June 30, 2007, is<br />

comprised of more than 130 named and general endowed funds, the income from which<br />

supports approximately 5.5% of BB&n’s operating budget each year.<br />

established through both outright gifts and bequests by alumni/ae, parents, and friends<br />

with a vision for BB&n’s future, these funds provide the long-term financial support<br />

necessary to sustain many areas of the BB&n operating budget, from faculty compensation,<br />

professional development, and financial aid to academic and athletic programs.<br />

The following list describes many of BB&n’s current endowment funds and the areas of<br />

the budget they support. new funds created during 2006-2007 are highlighted below.<br />

The Class of 2007 Faculty<br />

Endowment Fund<br />

This fund was established by parents in<br />

the Class of 2007 through their Senior<br />

Parents’ Gift campaign and will provide<br />

permanent endowment to support<br />

BB&N’s faculty compensation and<br />

professional development budget.<br />

John H. Etter Teaching Fund<br />

Established in honor of John H. Etter ’49,<br />

Director of Athletics for more than 40<br />

years, this fund supports the Director of<br />

Athletics position.<br />

The Legends Fund<br />

The Legends Fund was created in 2007 to<br />

recognize BB&N’s faculty “legends” upon<br />

their retirement and to honor their extraordinary<br />

commitment to the School during<br />

their many years of service. This fund<br />

provides permanent support to BB&N’s<br />

faculty endowment for compensation,<br />

professional development, and summer<br />

travel grants.<br />

Mary Newmann Faculty Compensation<br />

Fund<br />

Established in 2000 by current and former<br />

trustees of the <strong>Buckingham</strong> School,<br />

<strong>Browne</strong> & <strong>Nichols</strong>, and BB&N, this fund<br />

honors former Head of School Mary<br />

Newmann and supports the School’s<br />

general faculty compensation budget.<br />

Edwin H. B. Pratt Faculty Fund<br />

Established in 1975 through a bequest<br />

from the Edwin H. Baker Pratt Trust, this<br />

fund supports BB&N’s faculty compensation<br />

budget.<br />

Edwin and Aileen Pratt Faculty<br />

Development Fund<br />

This fund was established by members of<br />

the Edwin and Aileen Pratt Fund Committee<br />

in 1978 in recognition of the Pratts’<br />

invaluable service to the School. The<br />

fund supports the moral and intellectual<br />

atmosphere at BB&N by providing for<br />

faculty compensation.<br />

Rudman Family Athletic Fund<br />

Established in 1984 by the Rudman<br />

family on the occasion of the 40th anniversary<br />

of Stanley and Dorothy Rudman<br />

P’66, ’70, GP’05 and redesignated in<br />

2003 by Jeffrey Rudman ‘66, this fund<br />

underwrites the salary of the boys’ football<br />

coach at BB&N and supports general<br />

expenses of the football and/or general<br />

athletic program.<br />

DEVELOPMENT<br />

BB&N Faculty Professional<br />

Development Fund<br />

Income from BB&N’s general faculty<br />

professional development endowment<br />

supports curricular research and program<br />

development, workshops and conferences,<br />

graduate coursework, and summer<br />

travel and study grants that reward senior<br />

faculty for long service and dedication<br />

to BB&N.<br />

Frances Ackerly Fund for Gender<br />

Studies<br />

Established in 1991 in honor of faculty<br />

emerita Frances Ackerly, this fund supports<br />

professional development for<br />
