George Deptula Russian Program<br />
Enrichment Fund<br />
Established in 1995 by the Dangel<br />
family in honor of former Russian History<br />
teacher George Deptula P’66, this fund<br />
enriches the programs of the Russian<br />
Department by supporting the acquisition<br />
of resource materials, underwriting visits<br />
by distinguished guest speakers, and<br />
providing financial assistance to enable<br />
students of Russian to travel and participate<br />
in special programs.<br />

James Ducey Book Fund<br />
Established in 1986 by J. Richard Hunneman,<br />
Jr. ’42, this fund supports the purchase<br />
of books and periodicals in science,<br />
technology, and applied sciences.<br />
English Seminar Learning Fund<br />
Established in 1997, this fund was<br />
established in honor of Jane Clark, former<br />
Middle School teacher and Academic Skills<br />
Coordinator. The fund supports BB&N<br />
programs that directly benefit students and<br />
accommodate their learning styles, with a<br />
preference for programs for 7th and 8th<br />
grade students.<br />
Fesus Girls’ Crew Fund<br />
Established in 1993 by Mr. and Mrs.<br />
George J. Fesus P’90, ’93, this fund supports<br />
the girls’ crew program.<br />
Fraulein Grote Fund for German<br />
Culture<br />
This fund supports Middle or Upper School<br />
department expenses related to German<br />
culture, literature, and history.<br />
Middle School students and faculty continued<br />
their tradition of community outreach by<br />
participating in the annual Giving Thanks Day.<br />
This year, preschoolers from the Peabody School<br />
in Cambridge visited the Middle School for a<br />
morning full of fun activities. Middle School<br />
students and faculty also supported a variety of<br />
local organizations that need a helping hand—<br />
this year reaching out to Safe Passage, On the<br />
Rise, Horizons for Homeless Children, Bristol<br />
Soup Lodge in Waltham and the Boston Medical<br />
Center among many others.<br />
Hintlian Library Art Book Fund<br />
This fund was established in 1987 by Ann<br />
Hintlian in honor of her daughter LuAnn<br />
Hintlian Ohanian ’73, and is used to<br />
purchase books on the arts for the Upper<br />
School library.<br />
Hodder Lecture Fund<br />
Established in 1998 by colleagues and<br />
friends, this fund honors the contributions<br />
of Elizabeth D. Hodder P’80, ’82,<br />
’85, ’87 to the Upper School during her<br />
eight-year tenure as Dean of Students.<br />
The fund supports a program to bring to<br />
the school a recognized artist, athlete,<br />
scholar or leader to meet with classes,<br />
give workshops, and/or speak at an All-<br />
School assembly.<br />
Hoyt Family Library Endowment<br />
Fund<br />
Established in 2003 through the trust<br />
of Natalie Hoyt, this fund is named in<br />
memory of her brothers Barrett Hoyt ’26<br />
and Harrison Hoyt ’34. The income from<br />
this fund is used for the purchase of<br />
books for the BB&N libraries.<br />
Lower School Reading Fund<br />
Established in 1999, the Lower School<br />
Reading Fund supports the “special<br />
needs” portion of the Lower School reading<br />
program by accommodating students’<br />
learning styles as readers.<br />
Anna Minot Theater<br />
Production Fund<br />
Established in 2006 by Anna Minot<br />
Warren ’35, a lifelong professional actor<br />
who helped establish the <strong>Buckingham</strong><br />
drama program, this fund provides<br />
income to help underwrite the annual<br />
production costs of the Upper School<br />
Drama Program including such expenses<br />
as costume purchase or rental, set<br />
materials, script and music rental, lighting<br />
supplies, and royalties.<br />
Pechet Family Book Fund<br />
The Pechet Fund is used for the purchase<br />
of books for BB&N’s libraries.<br />
Petropoulos Art Scholars Program<br />

The Petropoulos Art Scholars Program<br />
Fund represents a new direction for the<br />
Petropoulos Art Prize Fund, originally<br />
established in 1983 by Andre Balazs ’75<br />
and Peter Gergely ’72 in memory of John<br />
B. Petropoulos P’93, a beloved member of<br />
the <strong>Browne</strong> & <strong>Nichols</strong> and BB&N Upper<br />
School Art Department faculty from 1962<br />
to 1982. The Petropoulos Art Scholars<br />
Program provides an enriched experience<br />
for Upper School students who participate<br />
in independent study programs in the<br />
visual arts.<br />
Saunders Family Fitness Center<br />
Equipment Fund<br />
Established in 1999 through gifts from<br />
Gary and Barbara Saunders P’00, ’04<br />
and Jeffrey and Debra Saunders P’03,<br />
this fund supports the purchase of<br />
replacement equipment for the Fitness<br />
Center in the Nicholas Athletic Center.<br />
The Sixth Grade Endowment Fund<br />
for Student Enrichment<br />
This fund was established in 2007 by<br />
parents in the Class of 2013 to enhance<br />
and enrich the learning opportunities for<br />
Lower School students through supplemental<br />
programs in the arts, sciences, or<br />
other academic areas.<br />
Reeves Stratton Science Fund<br />
Established in 1980 by <strong>Browne</strong> & <strong>Nichols</strong><br />
alumni from classes that graduated in<br />
the mid-1940s, this fund honors the<br />
memory of B&N faculty members James<br />
Arthur Reeves and Charles Edward Stratton.<br />
The fund supports the purchase of<br />
reference materials for the Upper School<br />
library, provides materials for the Science<br />
Department, and supports faculty professional<br />
development.<br />
Marjorie Thompson Fund<br />
Established in 1989 by family and friends<br />
in memory of Marjorie Thompson to<br />
honor her contributions and devotion to<br />
the School during the many years she<br />
served as Director of Development, this<br />
fund provides support for the Head’s<br />
Discretionary Fund.<br />
