NAPA VALLEY | WINE COUNTRY THIS WEEKNapa’s 33rd Annual <strong>Wine</strong> & Crafts Fair, September 12The 33rd Annual Napa <strong>Wine</strong> and Crafts Fair is Saturday,September 12, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on First Street in DowntownNapa. The event – which features 150 artists showing original,handcrafted art and crafts, Napa Valley wines, micro-brewed beer, andplenty of food, attracts up to 15,000 people a year.Marla Bird, who h<strong>as</strong> orgainized the event for three years, h<strong>as</strong> madesome changes to keep the show fresh. “We introduce new artists everyyear, so attendees have new arts and crafts to enjoy.” Additionally, theshow will feature a children’s area, with arts and activities gearedtoward the littler ones.“We are also going to have a wine court this year,” said Bird. “<strong>Wine</strong>booths will still be featured on First Street, but the court will be achance to try more wines, sit and relax and enjoy music.”The Napa <strong>Wine</strong> and Crafts Fair h<strong>as</strong> been rated <strong>as</strong> one of the topthree events in Northern California. Organizers attribute part of thepopularity to the fact it’s in Napa. “Napa in September is a wonderfulplace to be. Where else can you stroll down the street, enjoying thework of crafters while sipping a gl<strong>as</strong>s of Napa Valley wine? There’s abit of something for everyone in this Faire, whatever your t<strong>as</strong>te orbudget.”Categories for the show include: jewelry, photos, paintings,ceramics, clothing, wood, floral, gl<strong>as</strong>s and more. TheNapa Valley twist to the event is the inclusion of The Bounty HunterRib Eatin’ Contest, when local winemakers will go mano-y-mano in anattempt to claim rib eatin’ glory. .<strong>Wine</strong>makers and grape growers both will sit down elbow to elbow,and at the sound of the starter’s gun, will devour <strong>as</strong> many ribs <strong>as</strong> theycan in a limited time. Winners will receive awards and bragging rightsfor the year.
