The Alfond Youth<br />

SPCMS faculty offer Chorus<br />

and Percussion Clubs <strong>for</strong> students<br />

in <strong>the</strong> AYC after school care<br />

program. Students in Chorus Club<br />

explore <strong>the</strong>ir voices and learn to<br />

sing toge<strong>the</strong>r in unison and simple<br />

parts. Percussion Club students<br />

make instruments from household<br />

items, and study basic elements of<br />

rhythm on traditional percussion<br />

instruments and homemade<br />

instruments toge<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

Augusta School Age<br />

Childcare Program,<br />

Augusta<br />

At each of <strong>the</strong> four Augusta<br />

Elementary Schools, SPCMS<br />

Faculty offer Music Club <strong>for</strong><br />

students in <strong>the</strong> City of Augusta’s<br />

After School program. Music Club<br />

members have a chance to explore<br />

<strong>the</strong> basic elements of music through<br />

song, body percussion, movement<br />

and instruments.<br />

Maine Academy of<br />

Natural Sciences at<br />

Good Will-Hinckley,<br />

Hinckley<br />

MeANS students can opt <strong>for</strong><br />

guitar lessons and music <strong>the</strong>ory<br />

class with SPCMS faculty as part of<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir school day. With an extensive<br />

instrument library, SPCMS is<br />

able to offer guitars to all students<br />

participating free of charge.<br />

Educare of Central<br />

Maine, Waterville<br />

SPCMS’s Music and Movement<br />

program is designed <strong>for</strong> Educare’s<br />

toddlers and preschoolers. In a<br />

joyful atmosphere, children develop<br />

musical skills through songs,<br />

singing games, simple percussion<br />

instruments and movement<br />

activities.<br />
