She has been a member of six original Broadway companies that include the critically acclaimed Ragtime with Brian Stokes Mitchell and Audra McDonald, Curtains starring David Hyde Pierce, The Woman in White, Bye, Bye Birdie with John Stamos and the Tony Award winning Musical Revivals of La Cage aux Folles and Kiss Me, Kate. Throughout her career, she has joined the companies of Toronto, Broadway and The Music Box Tour of The Phantom of the Opera having performed the roles of both Christine and Carlotta. She has toured the United States and Canada in the productions of Kiss Me, Kate, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Music of the Night and Cats (Jellylorum/Griddlebone). Carnegie Hall appearances have included the NY premiere of the controversial hit opera Jerry Springer, the Opera starring Harvey Kietel, South Pacific (PBS) with Reba McEntire and Alec Baldwin, Show Boat with Nathan Gunn and The Sound of Music with the esteemed Steph- 26 anie Blyth. She performed in Gershwin’s Of Thee I Sing, the Kern/Hammerstein operetta Music in the Air at City Center ENCORES!, Candide (PBS) with the New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher Hall starring Kristin Chenowith and Sir Thomas Allen, and Noël and Cole in Love at Merkin Concert Hall. As a concert soloist, she has sung with the Symphony Orchestras of Akron, Alabama, Annapolis, Edmonton, Colorado Springs, Louisville, North Carolina, Oregon and Orlando. Regional credits have earned her rave reviews as Anna in The King and I (opposite Lou Diamond Phillips), Meg in Damn Yankees and Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music and most recently, as Mrs. Sneed Hill in the newly revised The Unsinkable Molly Brown at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Her soprano voice can be heard on the original cast recordings of Kiss Me, Kate, Ragtime, Curtains and South Pacific (at Carnegie Hall). She recently recorded Songs of Love and Life, for voice and wind ensemble by Frank Ticheli with the University of North Texas Wind Ensemble with Eugene Migliaro-Corporon conducting. After a professional career spanning nearly thirty years, Patty returned to school and earned a Master of
Music degree in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts. Mark Hardy has appeared on Broadway in Les Miserables and Titanic, as well as the 75th birthday tribute to Stephen Sondheim, Children and Art. At Lincoln Center he played Roger in A New Brain and off-Broadway he appeared in The Rothschilds at Circle in the Square downtown, Juba at the Vineyard, and Helluva Town at Rainbow and Stars, among others. He toured with the first national companies of Sunset Boulevard, Les Miserables, and The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber (in which he was the alternate for Michael Crawford). Regional credits include roles at Denver Center Theatre, Williamstown Theatre Festival, the Long Wharf, Houston Grand Opera, Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati, and GeVa. As a director, his productions of Trouble in Mind and The Women received League of Cincinnati Theatre directing awards; other notable directing credits include Carousel, Titanic, Fiddler On The Roof, The Taming of the Shrew, On The Town, The Threepenny Opera, the Lippa Wild Party, and the new Maltby/Shire/Weidman musical Take Flight in its university premiere. Mark has also appeared as a guest artist with many symphony orchestras celebrating classic Broadway music, including St. Louis Symphony, North Carolina Symphony, Long Island Philharmonic, New York Chamber Orchestra, Calgary Philharmonic, and Orchestra London. He teaches musical theatre performance and acting in Montclair State University’s prestigious Musical Theatre program, rated among the country’s best training programs in the field. His teaching has taken him to London, China, Greece, Romania, and Croatia. Mark is delighted to be a part of the dynamic creative environment at NEMC. Marian Murphy is an accomplished singer and theatrical artist who brings a versatile background to her work on stage, into the teaching studio and to her directing. A veteran of national Broadway tours and major regional theatre productions, her favorite roles include: Cosette in Les Misérables, Christine in Phantom, Mother in Bright Lights, Big City, Marian in The Music Man, Fleur in Esmeralda (world premiere), Mary Jane Wilkes in Big River and Fiona in Brigadoon. She has been featured with several orchestras around the world, including the Shanghai Symphony and the Concordia Orchestra at New York’s Lincoln Center. Her career has taken her to many stages here and abroad, and to other venues such as churches, cabarets, cruise lines, theme parks, dinner theatres and benefit concerts. She has three solo recordings: “This Must Be Love”, celebrating love songs from many genres, a jazz CD – “Live at the Saturday Club” with renowned jazz pianist Bill Schmearer, and most recently, “Amazed By You” – all new cabaret music written by pianist/composer Matthew Quayle. She can also be heard as a guest artist on Gail Levinsky’s recently released “Tipping Point”. As a teaching artist and clinician, Marian holds workshops and assemblies in educational institutions ranging from elementary schools to universities. She has a bachelor’s degree and a Performer’s Certificate of Merit from the School of Music at the State University of New York in Fredonia and earned her Actor’s Equity Association membership with the Tennessee Repertory Theatre’s Young Artist Program. As a member of National Association of Teachers of Singing, she has been teaching private voice students for over twenty years. She has been a member of the faculty at New England Music Camp for twenty-two years and is currently the Artistic Director of its Musical Theatre program. She is an adjunct voice teacher and the Musical Theatre Artistic Director at The Hill School in Pottstown, PA. Marian resides in Collegeville, Pennsylvania where she freelances and runs her own successful vocal studio. Her favorite role is that of wife and mother and she continues to be grateful for the love and support of her husband Nathan and sons Jamie and Noah! She is thankful to be sharing the stage with this talented group of friends for “Broadway Under the Stars”! Sal Viviano has sung well over 300 pops concerts with nearly 200 symphony orchestras around the world, at a long list of beautiful concert halls, and such iconic venues as The White House, Carnegie Hall, Wolf Trap, Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi, The Waldorf Astoria’s Starlight Roof and Ballroom, London’s Palladium, The Kennedy Center, NY’s Central Park, Teatro Massimo (Palermo), The Hollywood Bowl… to name a few… A Detroit native, The New York Times recently called Sal Viviano “… a luxuriant vocalist with effortless style…” Viviano began his career as a teenager opening for comedy greats of the last generation, in Chicago, and in showrooms throughout the Midwest (often in clubs at which he was too young to be ‘served’)… After completing his degrees (Eastern Illinois University), he taught high school, and worked and entertained at Nippersink Manor Resort (WI) in the summers, while also earning his Union cards as an actor doing theater, jingles, voice-overs, and commercials in Chicago.
