Snow Pond Center for the Arts - Summer Concert Series

Thank you to the generous donors whose contributions to
Snow Pond Center for the Arts and New England Music Camp
provide scholarships and financial aid, enhance the campus
and facilities, and strengthen the educational programs.
Every contribution is important. Gifts to
Snow Pond and NEMC not only support
scholarships, facilities, and programs but
also cast a vote of confidence in what we
are doing to develop young lives and enrich
the cultural fabric of central Maine. We are
proud to recognize all our donors in 2014
and to highlight a few who were able to be
especially generous in the past year:
Dead River Company has pledged a gift of $100,000
through The Mimi Foundation to support the infrastructure
improvements that are so vital to the longterm
stability of New England Music Camp and
the growth of year-round programming through
the Snow Pond Center for the Arts. In recognition
of this commitment, the music library that will be
constructed in the Arts and Education Center will
be named “The Mimi Music Library” to honor Ruth
Hutchins (“Mimi” to her grandchildren). Her 1911
Steinway piano is now one of the primary teaching
instruments at Snow Pond.

granddaughter Julie Bracken, president of the Foundation.

and are thrilled to have the good fortune to support
their growth by contributing to the Snow Pond
Center for the Arts. The expansion of the renowned
summer camp into a year-round facility will allow
New England Music Camp to enhance the lives of
students and audiences all year long. We would like

New NEMC Scholarships
In addition to hosting the NEMC New York area
alumni’s smashing holiday party at his iconic club,
The Comedy Cellar, in Greenwich Village, Noam
Dworman has pledged $50,000 to create the Damon
Holton Scholarship for Classical Guitar. This fullseason,
full-tuition scholarship for a talented guitar
student honors the profound influence that Damon
Holton and the New England Music Camp has had
on Noam’s life - in musical performance, aesthetic
appreciation, and the building of character.
Noam joins the Gregorian Family and the
Schmearer Family in establishing new merit scholarships
at NEMC: the Leon and Linda Gregorian
Merit Scholarship for a new violin or viola student
and the Bill and Dorothy Schmearer Scholarship
for Jazz Studies for students of trumpet, trombone,
saxophone, piano, bass, or drum set.
Thanks to the Davis Family Foundation and the
Maine Department of Economic and Community
Development (DECD), we now have an opportunity
to implement significant improvements to our facilities
through two matching grants totaling $275,000.
These grants are dependent on NEMC matching
this generous donation by September 1, 2015. This
is a rare opportunity for us here at NEMC. Eligible
donors will see their gifts fully matched, giving their
donations 100% greater impact.
