Standing Advisory Committee(1) There is hereby established a specialist committee as contemplated in section 191(l)(a) to be known as the standing advisory committee on company law, andcomprising -(a)(b)a judge, a retired judge or a senior advocate of the Supreme Court of <strong>South</strong><strong>Africa</strong> as chairperson;other members to be determined from time to time determine(2) A member of the standing advisory committee shall hold office for such period as theMinister may direct and shall be eligible for reappointment upon the expiration of theperiod of his office.(3) The standing advisory committee shall as to witnesses and their evidence have thepowers of a commission duly appointed under the Commissions Act, 1947 (Act 8 of1947).(4) The standing advisory committee may from time to time make recommendations tothe Minister in regard to any amendments to this Act which may appear to it to beadvisable and shall advise the Minister on any matter referred to it by the Minister.(5) The standing advisory committee shall constitute and maintain at all times suchstanding subcommittees on accounting, legal and other practices as the Minister mayfrom time to time determine.(6) The standing advisory committee shall appoint as members of the standing subcommitteessuch of its members and such other persons and for such periods ofoffice, as it may from time to time determine.(7) The standing advisory committee may call to its assistance such person or persons asit may deem necessary to assist it or to investigate matters relating to company law.(8) The Registrar shall be responsible for the administration of the standing advisorycommittee and the standing sub-committees.
