4 REFERENCE MAGNETOMETERSThe IGP maintains reference magnetometers for declination, inclination and totalintensity at Huancayo Geomagnetic Observatory where they are use to calibrate thevariometers periodically. DI-flux magnetometer is used as both the declination and inclinationreference and an Barringer M-234 Proton magnetometer is used as the total-field reference.Regular inter-comparisons are performed at IAGA workshops on GeomagneticObservatory Instruments, Data Acquisition and Processing relate the Peruvian referencemagnetometers to international standards. Absolute instruments used at HuancayoGeomagnetic Observatory are periodically compared with the reference magnetometers, sometimes through subsidiary traveling reference instruments. Results identified as final in this report indicate that absolute magnetometers used todetermine baselines have been corrected to international standards.DI-flux:Magnetometer:Serial number: 394Sensor type:Measuring range:Maximum resolution:Resolution sensitivity:Sensitivity Switch:Theodolite:MAG-01H FluxgateBartington MAG-01H FluxgateSingle-axis0.1 nT – 0.2 mT0.1 nTSerial number: 160325Optical resolution: 1'Calibration accuracy: 0.1 %Last Inter comparisons date:Total-field magnetometer:x1 (1 nT) and x10 (0.1 nT)1 nT and 0.1 nTCarl Zeiss 010BSerial number: 60225368-0024Type:SensitivityRange:Resolution:Accuracy:Gradient ∆F:Apartado 130207, Lima 13, PerúTeléfonos (+51-1)317-2313 - Fax (+51-1)317-2312June 10-13, 2008 Boulder Observatory USGSBarringer Research M-234 MagnetometerProton precession0.1 nT sample interval 2.0 sec or greater0.2 nT sample interval 1.1 to 1.9 sec.0.5 nT sample interval 0.5 to 1 sec.20,000 to 90,000 nT0.1 nT0.5 nT-4.7 nTTable 4.1 Technical specification of absolute magnetometers.
