vertical-intensity (Z) variometers and one photographic recorder made by Otto Toepfer andSon, Potsdam. Because of the frequent and large fluctuations in H and loss of trace duringtimes of magnetic disturbance, a La Cour low-sensitivity H variometer was installed as anadjunct to the Eschenhagen equipment in April, 1937. It was mounted on a speciallyconstructed bass support on the north edge of the variometer pier of the Eschenhagenapparatus, adjacent to the H variometer, the position of which is noted in figure 2 (D).Control-time is with an electronic clock made by Oscar Veliz, Peru. From 1922 to 1997 wasused as the principal magnetograph and from 1998 to 2009 was used as backup variometer. On January 01, 2010 at 00:00:00 hours UT, this instrument was stopped after to work for 88years, for to be modernized its photographic record system.Eschenhagen DTM CIW No. 2(A) Horizontal - Intensity variometer (H)(B) Declination variometer (D)Pushkov(C) Vertical - Intensity variometer (Z)La Cour(D) Low – sensitivity variometer (H)Recorder(E) Photographic recorder Toepfer&SonFigure 5 Magnetograph VariometerFigure 6 Last Eschenhagen DTM CIW No. 2 Magnetogram, December 31, 2009.From October 2009 to July 2010, an opto-electronic system registry prototype wastested in the geomagnetic laboratory room for to work with Eschenhagen DTM CIW No. 2variometer.Apartado 130207, Lima 13, PerúTeléfonos (+51-1)317-2313 - Fax (+51-1)317-2312
6 PRESENTATION OF RESULTS6.1 Base-line valuesThe observed and adopted base-line values are shown in a graphical form. Theadopted base line values were computed applying the technique of cubic spline fitting on theobserved base-line values.6.1.1 Base-line values for Fluxgate Magnetometers (INTERMAGNET, RFP-523)by:H o , D o and Z o were then calculated for the vector magnetometer systems describedH o =H - S H ∆H + g H ∆t (5)D o =D - S D ∆D + g D ∆t (6)Z o =Z - S Z ∆Z + g Z ∆t (7)The used notation meansH o , D o , Z o baseline values (nT) for H and Z, ( ' ) for D.H , D , Z Absolute values (nT) for H and Z, ( ' ) for D.∆H, ∆D, ∆Z the digital values recorded by the data logger (mV)S H , S D , S Z Scale values (nT/mV) for H and Z, ('/mV) for D.g H , g D , g Z Coefficients values of temperature (nT/ºC) for H and Z, ('/ºC) for D.∆tDifference between t instant and t o reference temperature6.1.2 Base-line values for Magnetograph Eschenhagen DTM CIW No. 2H o , D o and Z o were then calculated for the vector magnetometer systems describedby:H o =H - ( A + (B/2) ∆H )∆H (5)D o =D - S D ∆D (6)Z o =Z - S Z ∆Z (7)The used notation meansH o , D o , Z o baseline values H and Z in (nT), for D in ( ' ).H , D , Z Absolute values H and Z in (nT), for D in ( ' ).∆H, ∆D, ∆Z Ordinate values scaled in millimeters (mm)AScale values for H (nT/mm)BTorsion factor of H component (nT/(mm*mm))S DScale values for D ('/mm)Scale values for Z (nT/mm)S Z6.2 One-minute mean valuesOne-minute mean values, centred on the minute, were calculated by applying theGaussian coefficients to a series of 19 samples of 5-second data. For a filter output values tobe centred on the minute, the first coefficient was applied 45 seconds before this minute andthe last coefficient was applied 45 seconds after the minute.Preliminary 1-minute time series are available in near real-time on the GeophysicalInstitute of Peru website. They are also sent to the Edinburgh INTERMAGNET geomagneticinformation node (GIN) and made available on the INTERMAGNET website as reporteddata.Adjusted 1-minute mean values in X, Y, Z and F, are sent to the EdinburghINTERMAGNET GIN and made available on the INTERMAGNET website as adjusted data.Definitive 1-minute mean values in X, Y, Z and F, and hourly mean values aresubmitted annually to Paris INTERMAGNET GIN. Under agreement with the NationalOceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) USA, these data are then obtained directlyApartado 130207, Lima 13, PerúTeléfonos (+51-1)317-2313 - Fax (+51-1)317-2312
