11. ConclusionThis intermediate level SWMP has set out to ensure that all flood risk partnerswork together to understand the locations, causes and effects of floodingwithin the borough of Eastleigh and to identify measures to mitigate againstflooding in the form of an Action PlanIt has done this through regular stakeholder meetings, which will becontinued, using local knowledge to identify, map and assess those areaswhere surface water flooding has been or has the potential to be a high risk.It has identified a number of areas where additional work is required, both interms of assessment of flood risk and physical mitigation works in order toreduce the level of flood risk. This work will constitute a detailed SWMP andthese will be undertaken on a countywide risk prioritised basis to ensure timeand resources are directed to the areas at highest risk.Recommendations have been made which cover a wide range of areasincluding effective communication, policy and schemes and has sought tohighlight the outcomes from this report to all parties who may be able toinfluence and reduce flood risk.This report will continue to develop as flood risk is better understood and asadditional flood risk areas are identified, ultimately leading to a reduction inthe risk of flooding as well as an increase in the understanding of flood riskacross the borough.32
