BASKETBALL REPORTKWS Girls 1sts Vs The RugalsBaered and bruised aer the toughest test of the season to date, the KWS Girls 1sts Team can hold theirheads high and remember that they mixed it up with the best in the compeon. Sarah McIntyre wasoutstanding as she took on the inmidang Rugal’s number 6, not giving an inch, she regularly turneddefence into aack. Sophie Gullifer repeatedly picked herself up off the deck and connued to hustle indefence. Jade Ryan found some strength under the basket while Megan Hunt once again reliably broughtthe ball down the court. Arabella Jorgensen‐Hull fought gallantly as she rebounded me and me againwhile the ever present Captain, Pip Johnson, provided solid defence, making the opposion earn eachand every basket. The girls connue to improve each week and this week they found the passion anddesire to stand strong. Well done on a fantasc and rugged game of basketball.3 points Sarah McIntyre2 points Pip Johnson1 point Megan HuntScore: KWs 39 ‐ The Rugals 44KWS 2ndsThe ‘Toos’ took on the might of the highly experienced ‘Come Back Queens’. This was some match for thefiery combinaon. Felicity was very tough right up to the point where she was fouled off. Eleanor andJordan covered miles of court in a very enthusiasc effort. Ellie was a power house under the ring and thespeed and skill of Monique and Elish was a sheer pleasure to see. The final score of 48 to 18 was not onlya huge improvement but also very entertaining.Patriots Vs Old BoysThe Patriots came up against a red hot side in the Old Boys who took all their chances & scored somecracking baskets in their latest game. The Patriots worked well aer a sluggish start at half me (trailed24‐6), to take some of their shots. 3 pointers to Robbo, Hamish & Andrew all lied the intensity to makethe back half of the game much more enjoyable. Billy worked the house down covering a lot of court &Big Benny connues to improve. Lachie had some good rebounds & contributed nicely to the 2 nd halfimprovement. With skills improvement and some added concentraon a win for the patriots can’t be faraway.Score: Patriots 25 ‐ Old Boys 51KWS Sapphires Vs SpinnersIf a basketball game was decided purely on grit, determinaon and effort – then this match was ours!Despite some excellent play, fast breaks, intercepts and great on court posion the Sapphires went downto the Spinners 47‐18. Evie Jackson had another terrific game and displayed a text book lay‐up in the firstquarter. Evie's strong defence was at mes the only thing that stood between the opposion and theirbasket. Whilst Sophie didn't have her best shoong night, her ability to make breaks and intercept theball ensured that the Sapphires had good ball possession. Molly Hansen made a number of impressivebreaks down the court and aer a few aempts was also able to convert her shots into points. Sally Marralso had a strong performance and was able to draw the opposion out to make space for herteammates. Rounding out our team for the match was Kayla Simmonds, who recovering from injuryplayed another great game – making breaks, having excellent posion and seng up plays. The girlsshould be really pleased with their efforts and with the improvement that they are showing on court.
