Resources:- maintenance of in<strong>for</strong>mation on current phytosanitary requirements of PEQ inspection;- production of operational guidelines/procedures/instructions to ensure that thephytosanitary regulation requirements specified under the PQ order are met with;- inspection and testing of consignments and other regulated articles grown underpostentry <strong>quarantine</strong>;- identification of organisms found during entry-<strong>quarantine</strong> inspection/postentry<strong>quarantine</strong> inspection of consignments and other regulated articles- Approval and certification of postentry <strong>quarantine</strong> facilities- Reporting of PEQ inspection- Issue PEQ clearance/destruction certificates- document storage and retrieval- training- dissemination of in<strong>for</strong>mation related to approval and certification of PEQ facilities- notification of non-compliance with phytosanitary requirements and emergency action.1.5.1 Trained & Qualified Staff:The Import <strong>Quarantine</strong> Regulatory System will have adequate, skilled and trained manpower toefficiently handle the volume of consignments being processed <strong>for</strong> import inspection includingpostentry <strong>quarantine</strong> inspection. The Import <strong>Quarantine</strong> <strong>Inspection</strong> Unit of PQ Division of Dte ofPPQS (NPPO) will decide the number of technically trained/qualified manpower to be required at eachplace, and periodically review the requirements of human resources and capacity building and trainingrequirements (operational as well as specialized) in consultation with notified inspectionauthorities/PQOs (with PEQ responsibilities) and after evaluating their technical capacities andcapabilities and infrastructure facilities <strong>for</strong> per<strong>for</strong>mance of entry inspection/postentry <strong>quarantine</strong>inspection activities.10
