Drainage:The field should be properly leveled to prevent water logging and with good drainage facility.1.7. Field sanitation;The field should be free from weeds and residues of previous crop and proper. Arrangements <strong>for</strong>disposal of infested/infected plant material1.8. Documentation:The facility should have standard operating procedures in place <strong>for</strong> the operation of facility (includingrecord keeping, pest monitoring and plant protection practices)1.9. Staff training:The staff should be adequately trained in field operations, pest monitoring, plant protection practices andrecord keeping.2. Closed <strong>Quarantine</strong> Facilites (Glass house/Screen house/Polyhouse)The closed <strong>quarantine</strong> facilities such as glass houses/screen houses/poly houses are required <strong>for</strong> growingimported high risk ornamental and fruit plant species including tissue culture plants. The facilitiesestablished must meet the following criteria <strong>for</strong> approval and certification.2.1. Double Door <strong>Entry</strong>:The facility should have a double door entry with outer solid door, which is lockable and inner screeneddoor fitted with a door closure to prevent any entry/escape of pests and the entry to the facility should berestricted. The double door entry porch is provided with a foot both and a basin containing disinfectant<strong>for</strong> hands and foot disinfection2.2. Flooring:The facility should have concrete flooring <strong>for</strong> easy cleaning and washing or soil floors should becovered with impermeable membrane. The drainage holes should be appropriately covered with screento prevent entry of hitch hiking pests and rat-proof. There should be small water trough around theexterior of the facility to act as ant barrier.20
