ASCENT - Management Development ProgramASCENT is an integrated Leadership Development Program to help business professi<strong>on</strong>als of TIL/TIPL to transcend togeneral management. The program is designed to provide exposure to Thought Leadership of the highest order, helpingparticipants to overcome the challenges of strategic orientati<strong>on</strong>, managing complexity and integrati<strong>on</strong> that are involved inleading an organizati<strong>on</strong>. ASCENT aims at providing participants with a wider perspective <strong>on</strong> business, thereby incre<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>ingbusiness skills and leadership capabilities. It is an accelerated management program aimed at creating a pool of futurebusiness leaders of the organizati<strong>on</strong>. The program is designed for Business Managers, Functi<strong>on</strong>al Heads & Operati<strong>on</strong>Heads.Program Methodology :TIL TALK1. Creati<strong>on</strong> of Individual Learning Program (ILP)Participants will use the ILP to record what they want toachieve <strong>on</strong> their learning journey - their goals andprogressi<strong>on</strong> opti<strong>on</strong>s, learning targets with outcomes andtime scales, details of the resources, support and guidancerequired etc. The ILP will be derived <strong>on</strong> the b<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>is of theinputs obtained through Developmental Center.Senior Management - TIL/TIPL and Caterpillar with ASCENT teamDevelopment Center is a means to predict <strong>on</strong>-the-jobperformance and potential by evaluating competencies through multiple methods and multiple <str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>sessors. The DevelopmentCenter w<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g> launched <strong>on</strong> 25th May <strong>2010</strong>. It started with a batch of 20 people. The day began with an opening speechby Mr. Sumit Mazumder - VC & MD and proceeded with various methods of <str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>sessment including psychometric tests,presentati<strong>on</strong>s, in-b<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>ket exercises, interviews, role-plays, 360° feedback etc. The Development Center w<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>ductedby external <str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>sessors with high repute in the industry al<strong>on</strong>g with internal <str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>sessors. The entire project m<strong>on</strong>itoring w<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>d<strong>on</strong>e by Head - Knowledge Resource Management.2. Instructor Led Trainings (ILTs)ILT is the practice of face-to-face delivery of training and learning material. ILTs will be c<strong>on</strong>ducted by both internal andexternal faculty. The strategic papers will be led by the senior leadership of Caterpillar and TIL <str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g> may be relevant to thecourse c<strong>on</strong>tent. Reputed training c<strong>on</strong>sulting firms like Dale Carnegie, Mindstudio and Mercuri Goldman are a part ofASCENT.3. Project AssignmentAll participants need to complete a work related project by the end of the program that will apply management tools theyhave learned. Participants’ direct reporting manager and training managers will facilitate and m<strong>on</strong>itor the progress of thesame. The project is required to be d<strong>on</strong>e in groups and a group presentati<strong>on</strong> will be required. The project output mustbe a soluti<strong>on</strong> of daily work.
