Behavioral TrainingTIL TALKTraining & Development is an area which by careful design can serve both organizati<strong>on</strong>al <str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g> well <str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g> individual needs and<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>pirati<strong>on</strong>s. Behavioral skills trainings have witnessed a marked transiti<strong>on</strong> in the l<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>t decade from being generic and ‘goodto have’ to being specific, defined and ‘need to have’. Organizati<strong>on</strong>s across the globe accept the fact that professi<strong>on</strong>alswith technical knowledge <strong>on</strong>ly partly complement the essentials of being a ‘complete professi<strong>on</strong>al’. On the journey ofprofessi<strong>on</strong>al growth, <strong>on</strong>e is required to interact with internal and external stakeholders, hence it is imperative for them tohave effective communicati<strong>on</strong> and other behavioral skills, which play a critical role in successfully managing customers -internal or external.At TIL and TIPL, there is a great emph<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>is <strong>on</strong> developing people capabilities and closely linking Training & Developmentwith organizati<strong>on</strong>al objectives. Every year we c<strong>on</strong>duct organizati<strong>on</strong> wide Training Needs Assessment b<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>ed <strong>on</strong> a threetier <str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>sessment system - Organizati<strong>on</strong>al requirements, SBU requirements and Individual/ Level wise requirements. Thisprovides inputs for our Behavioral Training Calendar.For <strong>2010</strong>-11 the training calendar h<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g> been created keeping in mind the specific requirements of different levels andfuncti<strong>on</strong>s within the organizati<strong>on</strong>. The programs have been created separately for junior (upto Asst. Managers), middle(Managers and Senior Managers) and senior (DGMs and above) management level people. The junior level programs havebeen made separately for Sales, Service and Support groups and the middle and senior level programs focus <strong>on</strong> managerialand leadership skills. Another highlight of this year’s training calendar is the locati<strong>on</strong> specific trainings for product supportprofessi<strong>on</strong>als to ensure maximum coverage and also to provide learning opportunity to people located in remote locati<strong>on</strong>s.The training programs c<strong>on</strong>sist of mainly Instructor Led Trainings (ILTs) which are accompanied by experiential learningthrough C<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>e studies, Exercises and Games. The participants are identified by KRM b<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>ed <strong>on</strong> training requirements andthe functi<strong>on</strong>al requierments.Testim<strong>on</strong>ial SchemeOne of the most important ways in which organizati<strong>on</strong>s gear up for growth is by defining where they envisi<strong>on</strong> themselvesto be in the future. In the current c<strong>on</strong>text, it would mean to <str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>sess and embrace all untapped potential existing in themarket in the form of talents. At this juncture we need to further develop ourselves <str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g> an ‘Employer of Choice’ to attractand retain the best talent. As a step towards this missi<strong>on</strong>, we intend to leverage <strong>on</strong> the potential of our existing employeesfor attracting best talent <str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g> our ‘Brand Amb<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>sador’ through a scheme of Employee Referral Policy. This policy is alsoknown <str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g> the ‘Testim<strong>on</strong>IaL’.Level Amounts (Rs)Testim<strong>on</strong>ial will be applicable for recruitment at M1 to G5 grades. Employees are requiredM1, M2 5,000to send Resumes to KRM al<strong>on</strong>g with a ‘Employee Referral Form’. Candidates referred throughG1 10,000Testim<strong>on</strong>ial will be <str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>sessed in the similar process <str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g> outlined for the selecti<strong>on</strong> of generalG2 15,000candidates. Candidates will be evaluated <strong>on</strong> the b<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>is of the Job requirement and also theG3 20,000Job Specificati<strong>on</strong>, and not <strong>on</strong> the b<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>is of the suggesti<strong>on</strong> being made by the referrer. IfG4 25,000candidate is selected then b<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>ed <strong>on</strong> the level of joining the c<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>h reward is calculated &G5 30,000processed by KRM.KRMThe employee referring a candidate should remain the guarantor for him/her for at le<str<strong>on</strong>g>as</str<strong>on</strong>g>t 6 m<strong>on</strong>ths. Within this period of 6m<strong>on</strong>ths in an event of the candidate leaving TIL, the employee will be required to return the reward amount of the Testim<strong>on</strong>ialscheme.In an event if two referred candidates of any employee leave the organizati<strong>on</strong> within <strong>on</strong>e year of service, then the c<strong>on</strong>cernedemployee shall be refrained from submitting further nominati<strong>on</strong>s in the Testim<strong>on</strong>ial scheme.OUR NEWS VIEWS & EVENTS 23
