Executive Chairman’s Statement (Cont’d)We are already aggressively bidding for more international ordersand will continue to pursue new projects both locally andinternationally to spread out our sources of revenue. Also, theconstruction sector has to deal with the challenges of anunprecedented increase since late 2007 in the cost of constructionmaterials, principally for steel bars, cement supplies, and fortransportation expenses. Our Group has responded to these withinternal initiatives taken to enhance performance, and we areoptimistic that our Group will be able to consistently deliver valueto our clients and remain competitive to deliver well-completedprojects despite the adverse outlook in the prices of constructionmaterials supplies.CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR)Our main mandate is the expansion of Bina Puri’s business base butwe also take seriously the need to be a responsible corporatecitizen. Our Corporate Social Responsibility programme has beendesigned to give back to society some of our good fortune.The Bina Puri Group of Companies believes in maintaining goodcommunity relations and we have set up regular care activities.This takes place in many forms including providing financial aid topoor and needy members of society. We have sponsored specialcommunity events and have contributed to social activities whereour staff are actively involved.Some of the notable CSR initiatives by the Group during the yearwere:-• Our Undergraduate Scholarship Awards for deserving students- our commitment to educating underprivileged students• Our Education Incentives for school students who excelled inexaminations for the PMR, SPM, STPM and Advanced Diplomas• Our medical aid for heart patient - through a contribution toYayasan Bakti Khidmat Masyarakat MalaysiaRetail Centre and Signature Offices of Capital Square, Kuala Lumpur.• Our participation in a “Fast to Fund” for the Palestine, SpasticChildren Association of Federal Territory and Selangor, and theTabung Pendidikan Tahfiz Al-Quran MalaysiaDIVIDENDSThe Board has recommended a final dividend of 4% per share less26% income tax for the financial year ended 31 December 2007making the total dividend declared for the current financial year to6% per share (5% in 2006), subject to the approval of theshareholders at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting.ACKNOWLEDGEMENTSThe achievements of Bina Puri Berhad are attributed to our pool ofdedicated and committed employees.
