Fauna & Flora International (FFI)Established <strong>in</strong> 1903 <strong>in</strong> the UK, FFI acts to conserve threatened species and ecosystems worldwide,choos<strong>in</strong>g solutions that are susta<strong>in</strong>able, are based on sound science and take account <strong>of</strong> humanneeds. In 2000, FFI published a status review <strong>of</strong> gibbons <strong>in</strong> <strong>Vietnam</strong> and for over a decade hasbeen actively <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> conserv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>Vietnam</strong>'s most endangered gibbons. Primate conservationis a core area <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>terest for FFI's programme <strong>in</strong> <strong>Vietnam</strong>.<strong>Conservation</strong> International (CI)Founded <strong>in</strong> 1987, CI builds upon a strong foundation <strong>of</strong> science, partnership and fielddemonstration, to empower societies to responsibly and susta<strong>in</strong>ably care for nature, our globalbiodiversity, for the well-be<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> humanity. CI has worked on field surveys, technical publications,capacity development and fund dispersal over the past four years to help conserve <strong>Vietnam</strong>’sthreatened gibbons.IUCN/SSC Primate Specialist Group<strong>The</strong> Primate Specialist Group (PSG) is concerned with the conservation <strong>of</strong> more than 630 speciesand subspecies <strong>of</strong> prosimians, monkeys, and apes, carry<strong>in</strong>g out conservation status assessments,the compilation <strong>of</strong> action plans, mak<strong>in</strong>g recommendations on taxonomic issues, and publish<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>formation on primates to <strong>in</strong>form IUCN policy as a whole. <strong>The</strong> PSG facilitates the exchange <strong>of</strong>critical <strong>in</strong>formation among primatologists and the pr<strong>of</strong>essional conservation community.Arcus FoundationFounded <strong>in</strong> 2000 by Jon Stryker, the Arcus Foundation is a lead<strong>in</strong>g global foundation advanc<strong>in</strong>gpress<strong>in</strong>g social justice and conservation issues. Through its programme for Great Apes <strong>in</strong> the Wild,Arcus works to ensure that viable populations <strong>of</strong> great apes are protected from ext<strong>in</strong>ction andliv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> habitats that are managed susta<strong>in</strong>ably and holistically, as well as <strong>in</strong>tegrated witheconomic development objectives.Nowak-Sprague SE Asia Biodiversity Initiative<strong>The</strong> Nowak-Sprague SE Asia Biodiversity Initiative (NSSEABI) was created by the Nowak-Spraguefamily with the goal to preserve biodiversity and prist<strong>in</strong>e places along with humanitarian goals <strong>in</strong>South-East Asia. <strong>The</strong> NSSEABI allocates grants to exist<strong>in</strong>g organizations, and has worked closelywith <strong>Conservation</strong> International and Pathf<strong>in</strong>der International <strong>in</strong> <strong>Vietnam</strong>, focus<strong>in</strong>g on primateconservation and human development projects.ii
