Nomascus sikifield records (Le Manh Hung et al. 2002a; Dang Ngoc Can 2004; Mahood & Tran Van Hung 2008).The reserve is contiguous with Khe Giua State Forest Enterprise and together they form one of themost important landscapes for N. siki in Vietnam, encompassing over 180,000 ha of forested lands.Threats and Conservation ActionsMuch of the forest in the reserve remains relatively intact and gibbons do not appear to beintensively hunted, although local communities frequently hunt other wildlife, extract timber andcollect non-timber forest products (Le Manh Hung et al. 2002a; Le Trong Dat et al. 2008b; NguyenManh Ha & Nguyen Ngoc Tuan 2008) . Aside from gibbon surveys, no other gibbon conservationactivities have been implemented in the reserve. Priority conservation actions for this site includea complete gibbon census and ranger patrols to reduce wildlife hunting and logging. Theseactivities should be coordinated with similar efforts in the adjacent Khe Giua State ForestEnterprise and Khe Nuoc Trong Nature Reserve.6.4 Locations where Nomascus siki is Now Considered AbsentThere are no confirmed or provisional extirpations of N. siki post 2000 based on survey data.6.5 Sites with No New Data Since 2000All locations in Vietnam known to support N. siki have been surveyed at least once since 2000.62
